She hated Li Wenbo, hated Zhang Tianming, and hated herself even more.
"Why? Why?" Dai Xinyi cried out, her voice hoarse.
Wang Lina looked at her with concern but didn't know what to say. She understood that nothing she said could comfort Dai Xinyi now; all she could do was help her slowly accept this cruel reality. Wang Lina supported Dai Xinyi, almost dragging her back home. Dai Xinyi was like a broken doll, her eyes vacant, mumbling about getting married over and over again. Seeing her in such a lost state made Wang Lina feel both angry and heartbroken.
Once they got home, the first thing Dai Xinyi did was frantically call Li Wenbo. One time, two times, three times—each time the cold voice on the other end informed her that the number she dialed was turned off. She then tried sending messages to Li Wenbo on WeChat, but they sank into silence like stones thrown into the ocean, receiving no response. Despair washed over her like a tidal wave, drowning her.
Dai Xinyi slumped onto the sofa, staring blankly at the ceiling. Just then, the doorbell rang. Wang Lina opened the door to find Dai Xinyi's cousin, Yang Liu.
As soon as Yang Liu stepped inside and saw Dai Xinyi's condition, she immediately grasped the situation. "Dai Xinyi, what happened to you? Who are you crying for?" Although Yang Liu's tone was sharp, her eyes were filled with concern.
Dai Xinyi lifted her head, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at Yang Liu and choked out, "Cousin, Li Wenbo got married."
"So what if he got married? Why are you crying? Who was it that cried and shouted about wanting to elope with that little face? Are you regretting it now?" Yang Liu mercilessly exposed Dai Xinyi's facade.
"I... I..." Dai Xinyi opened her mouth but couldn't find the words.
"What 'I'! You deserve this! You gave up a man who truly cared for you for someone who only knows how to play the victim. Have you lost your mind?" Yang Liu's anger grew as she glared at Dai Xinyi.
Dai Xinyi covered her face and started crying again. Yang Liu sighed and softened her tone a bit. "Dai Xinyi, I know you're hurting right now, but you need to pull yourself together. What's done is done; crying won't help. You need to think about what to do next."
"What else can I do? I can't do anything anymore," Dai Xinyi said in despair.
"Who says you can't do anything? You can at least fight for it! Even if Li Wenbo is married now, you can still talk to him and clarify things. What if there's still a chance?" Yang Liu encouraged.
Dai Xinyi lifted her head; a glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes. She decided to find Li Wenbo—no matter the outcome, she had to try.
At that moment, Wang Lina interjected: "Dai Xinyi, don't act impulsively. I think you should consult a lawyer first and see if there are any legal issues regarding your current situation."
Dai Xinyi felt that Wang Lina's advice made sense, so she contacted legal consultant Huang Lei. After listening to Dai Xinyi's account, Huang Lei pondered for a moment before saying: "From a legal standpoint, you and Li Wenbo only obtained a marriage certificate; you didn't even complete the wedding ceremony. Therefore, there is no marital relationship in existence. However, based on your description, he is now marrying Fang Jing Shu; this is just a temporary change of wedding ceremony and he likely hasn't obtained a marriage certificate yet. Theoretically speaking, they aren't truly husband and wife."
"What should I do then?" Dai Xinyi fell back into despair once more.
"Although it's difficult for you to claim anything legally, you can approach it from an emotional perspective. Try communicating with Li Wenbo and see if he still has feelings for you."
"If he still has feelings for you, there might still be a chance for reconciliation," Huang Lei suggested.
