Not long after, Li Wenbo asked with concern, "How are you feeling? Is there anywhere else that hurts?"
Fang Jing Shu shook her head. "Much better, thank you, Wen Bo."
Li Wenbo held her hand gently and said softly, "Silly girl, why are you thanking me? You are my wife."
Fang Jing Shu's cheeks flushed, and a warm feeling surged in her heart.
In the following days, Fang Jing Shu's condition gradually improved. Li Wenbo stayed by her side every moment, telling jokes to make her laugh. He even learned to sing local folk songs in a dialect, and although his singing was off-key, it made Fang Jing Shu laugh uncontrollably.
During their time in the hospital, they enjoyed a rare period of tranquility. There were no wedding festivities or interruptions from friends and family—just each other's company and care. They were like an ordinary couple, sharing meals, chatting, and taking walks together.
On the day of her discharge, the sky was a brilliant blue, and the sun shone brightly. Li Wenbo pushed the wheelchair as he took Fang Jing Shu out of the hospital.
"Where are we going?" Fang Jing Shu asked.
"I'm taking you to a special place," Li Wenbo replied with a mysterious smile.
He wheeled her to an open field filled with colorful wildflowers, with rolling snow-capped mountains in the distance.
"Wow, it's so beautiful!" Fang Jing Shu exclaimed.
Li Wenbo took out an exquisite box and knelt down on one knee. He opened the box to reveal a sparkling diamond ring inside. "Fang Jing Shu, our wedding was so rushed that I never got to propose properly. Now, will you marry me?"
Tears welled up in Fang Jing Shu's eyes as she nodded. "I do."
Li Wenbo slipped the ring onto her finger and embraced her tightly. "I love you, Fang Jing Shu."
"I love you too, Wen Bo," she replied.
The two held each other closely, as if the entire world had vanished and only they remained.
As they returned home, their relationship grew even stronger, despite spending most of their honeymoon in the hospital.
Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows into their room, casting dappled shadows on the floor. Fang Jing Shu sat in a wicker chair by the window, holding a thick photo album with a faint smile on her lips.
The album contained pictures from their wedding. Although there had been some unexpected events on that day, she felt incredibly happy that she and Li Wenbo had come together.
Li Wenbo emerged from the kitchen carrying two steaming cups of coffee. "What are you looking at that makes you smile so brightly?" He handed one cup to Fang Jing Shu.
"I'm looking at our wedding photos," she said as she passed him the album. "Look at this one; it turned out so well! We look so happy."
Li Wenbo took the album and flipped through the photos, his gaze lingering on the one where Fang Jing Shu was helping him adjust his tie. A complex emotion flickered in his eyes as he recalled the events of that day: Dai Xinyi's runaway marriage, the murmurs of the guests, and ultimately, his decision to be with Fang Jing Shu.
