He tightened his grip on the sushi in his hand, his knuckles turning white. Just then, the man suddenly reached out and gently patted Fang Jing Shu's hand. She seemed to sense something was off and discreetly withdrew her hand.
Ke Wenbo felt a rush of blood to his head, a wave of anger almost igniting within him. But he took a deep breath, forcing himself to suppress the fury, and with a forced smile, pushed open the office door.
Both people in the office looked up simultaneously upon seeing Ke Wenbo. Fang Jing Shu immediately broke into a delighted smile, while the man appeared somewhat awkward.
"Honey, what brings you here?" Fang Jing Shu stood up, her tone laced with a hint of playfulness.
Ke Wenbo raised the sushi in his hand. "I brought you lunch and thought I’d check on what my dear wife is busy with." He emphasized the word "wife," casting a challenging glance at the man.
Seeing this, the man quickly stood up, stammering, "Uh, Fang, I’ll take my leave now. I’ll send the documents to your email later."
Fang Jing Shu seemed to realize her faux pas and hurriedly replied, "Oh, okay, Manager Wang. Thank you for your hard work."
The man practically fled the office. Only then did Ke Wenbo place the sushi on the table and look at Fang Jing Shu with a smirk. "So, this Manager Wang seems quite familiar with you? Even patting your hand?"
Fang Jing Shu's face flushed red as she flusteredly explained, "No, no! He was just guiding me on my work; there’s nothing between us."
"Does guidance require standing that close? One might think you two are in a romantic relationship," Ke Wenbo said with a hint of jealousy.
"Oh come on! Don’t think like that. He’s just my boss; we’re completely innocent," Fang Jing Shu said as she walked over to Ke Wenbo and linked her arm with his, acting coyly.
Looking into her clear eyes and hearing her sincere tone, Ke Wenbo felt his anger gradually dissipate, though a trace of doubt lingered. He decided to trust Fang Jing Shu for now but would keep an eye on things.
"Alright, I’ll believe you this time. But if I see something like this again, I won’t let it slide easily," he said, his tone softening slightly.
"Got it! You’re the best, honey!" Fang Jing Shu smiled sweetly and gave him a quick kiss.
As they shared the sushi together, the atmosphere began to warm up. Ke Wenbo recounted the challenges faced during project development and their eventual success, while Fang Jing Shu shared her progress at work and her future plans.
"Honey, I might be busier soon; the company is considering promoting me," she said excitedly.
Hearing this news made Ke Wenbo happy for her. "Congratulations! A promotion and prosperity are just around the corner!"
"When that happens, you better handle logistics for me! If I end up working late, you’ll have to come pick me up," she said with a laugh.
