Wu Junhui looked aggrieved, her eyes slightly red. "You're being so harsh with me, and yet I just miss you so much. I wanted to see you," she said, reaching out to caress Li Wenbo's cheek.
Li Wenbo grabbed her wrist firmly, his gaze icy. "Stop pretending. What do you really want?"
Startled by his sudden action, Wu Junhui winced as he squeezed her wrist painfully, but she forced herself to appear calm, managing a faint smile. "Wen Bo, you're hurting me."
Seeing her feigned innocence filled him with disgust. He released her hand and said coldly, "I have no interest in you. You’d better recognize that and leave here quickly."
Her eyes reddened further, on the verge of tears, as if Li Wenbo were the heartless one. "Alright, alright, don’t be angry. I’ll leave soon. I just miss you too much and wanted to see how you’ve been doing. You’re really being so heartless." She sniffled and rubbed her eyes, causing her eyeliner to smudge and adding to her pitiful appearance.
Li Wenbo scoffed inwardly; this woman could change her expression faster than flipping a page in a book. He was too lazy to engage with her any longer and turned back toward the living room.
Wu Junhui shot a fierce glare at his retreating figure and muttered under her breath, "What are you acting so high and mighty for?" She swayed her hips towards the kitchen door and said to Fang Jing Shu, "Sister Jing Shu, I have something else to do, so I’ll be leaving."
Fang Jing Shu peeked out from the kitchen with a look of reluctance. "Won't you stay a little longer? I just finished cooking."
"No, no," Wu Junhui waved her hand repeatedly, but her gaze lingered on Li Wenbo as if reluctant to part. "I’ll come back to bother you next time, Sister Jing Shu."
With that, she swayed her hips as she left, throwing a flirtatious glance at Li Wenbo that seemed to say, "Just wait!"
Li Wenbo felt a chill run down his spine; this woman was truly relentless!
After sending Wu Junhui off, Li Wenbo began eating with Fang Jing Shu. During the meal, Fang Jing Shu hesitated several times before finally asking, "Wen Bo, did you know Junhui before?"
Li Wenbo snorted derisively and set down his chopsticks with a hint of sarcasm in his tone. "Know her? Ha! I’d rather not have known her my whole life. She's Zhang Tianming's crazy ex-girlfriend. After he dumped her, she latched onto me claiming she wanted revenge on him. But instead of getting revenge, she’s stuck to me like glue—impossible to shake off."
Fang Jing Shu was taken aback; she hadn’t realized Wu Junhui had that connection with Zhang Tianming. Cautiously, she asked, "So what does she want today?"
"Who knows what she's up to?" Li Wenbo ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "She probably has some scheme in mind. This woman is incredibly manipulative; she pretends to be weak and innocent while hiding who knows what behind the scenes."
He looked at Fang Jing Shu with a hint of reproach in his voice. "You’re just too kind-hearted; you bring anyone home. What if she really has ulterior motives? Your guard is way too low."
Fang Jing Shu lowered her head in slight embarrassment and defended herself softly, "I just thought she seemed pitiful—a girl alone..."
"Pitiful? Her? She nearly stole your husband right under your nose and you still feel sorry for her?" Li Wenbo raised his voice in dissatisfaction. "Do you even know what she did today? She was flirting with me right in front of you while pretending to be weak to gain your sympathy! And you even served her food and poured her tea! You’re practically inviting trouble into our home!"
