That night, Li Bo had a hard time getting Xiao Mingzhe to sleep. Just as he was preparing to enjoy some rare time with Fang Jing Shu, the little one suddenly woke up, clutching Li Bo's favorite pen and doodling on the snowy wall, looking every bit like a tiny artist.
“Xiao Mingzhe! Get down here!” Li Bo exclaimed, his anger boiling over. He felt like transforming into Ultraman and slapping the little rascal against the wall so he wouldn't be able to peel himself off.
However, Xiao Mingzhe was completely oblivious, giggling as he waved his small hands even more enthusiastically, creating several abstract art pieces on the snowy wall. Li Bo's blood pressure skyrocketed as he was about to march over and teach this unruly little tyrant a lesson when the child suddenly turned his head and called out sweetly, “Daddy!”
In that instant, Li Bo's heart felt as if it were filled with cotton candy—soft and fluffy, all his anger dissipated. He sighed helplessly and resigned himself to picking up a cloth to clean the wall of its masterpieces.
“It's fine; he's still young and doesn't understand,” Fang Jing Shu advised from the side, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
Sighing, Li Bo shook his head with a wry smile but couldn't help reaching out to gently pinch Xiao Mingzhe's chubby little cheek.
Xiao Mingzhe seemed to sense the tenderness and reached out his small hand to grasp Li Bo's finger, giggling happily.
On the weekend, Chen Jianguo and Lin Xiaoxuan arrived with bags in hand, looking like two moving shelves. The moment Xiao Mingzhe saw them, he immediately abandoned the toy car he had been chewing on and ran over with his short legs, excitedly shouting, “Godfather! Godmother!”
Chen Jianguo scooped up Xiao Mingzhe and planted a big kiss on his chubby cheek. “Wow, my godson is getting heavier! Looks like you're eating well!”
“Of course! Just look at who’s raising him,” Li Bo replied with a smile as he brought out a plate of water from the kitchen. “Here you go; have some water first.”
Lin Xiaoxuan piled up the toys and snacks she had brought on the floor like a small mountain, causing Xiao Mingzhe's eyes to light up with excitement. “Ming Zhe, look what your godmother brought you!”
Xiao Mingzhe immediately dove into the pile of treasures, eagerly tearing open packages filled with toy cars, Transformers, and Ultraman figures—everything one could wish for. Watching the mess of toys spread across the floor, Li Bo couldn't help but shake his head in amusement. “You guys are going to spoil him rotten!”
“Nah, he's just a kid; he deserves to be spoiled,” Chen Jianguo waved dismissively. “Besides, we only have so much love to give; we can't keep all these things for ourselves!”
Lin Xiaoxuan chimed in, “Exactly! We don’t have kids of our own; who else should we spoil if not Ming Zhe?” As she spoke, she pulled out an exquisite little box from her bag. “Ming Zhe, this is something special I picked just for you. Let’s see if you like it!”
Inside the small box was a finely crafted Gold Lock that looked quite valuable. Both Li Bo and Fang Jing Shu were taken aback by how extravagant this gift was.
“Isn’t this a bit too much?” Fang Jing Shu said somewhat apologetically.
“Oh no, it’s just a small token,” Lin Xiaoxuan replied with a smile. “Our Ming Zhe deserves the best.”
Xiao Mingzhe seemed uninterested in the Gold Lock; instead, he preferred the Ultraman in his hands. He aimed it at Chen Jianguo and pretended to shoot waves of light. Chen Jianguo dramatically clutched his chest and fell to the ground in an exaggerated manner. “Oh no! I’ve been hit! Godson, you’re too ruthless!”
The family laughed and chatted together in a warm and lively atmosphere. After lunch, Chen Jianguo suggested taking Xiao Mingzhe to the park to play. Li Bo and Fang Jing Shu readily agreed; it was rare for them to have a free afternoon, and they wanted to relax as well.
