After completing her discharge procedures, Lin Nuan Nuan stepped out of the hospital doors. 0

The night breeze blew in, and she tightened her coat around herself, yet still felt cold. 0

"Get in the car," Ji Mingyu said, appearing by her side. "I'll give you a ride." 0

Lin Nuan Nuan shook her head. "No need, I want to walk by myself." 0

"Are you sure?" Ji Mingyu pointed to a black Rolls-Royce not far away. "He doesn't seem like he’ll let you go." 0

Following his finger, Lin Nuan Nuan indeed saw Huo Jing Shen leaning against the car. 0

"How annoying," she muttered under her breath. 0

Ji Mingyu smiled. "Then how about getting in my car?" 0

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Nuan Nuan nodded. "Okay." 0

Watching the two leave together, Huo Jing Shen's expression darkened. 0

He took out his phone and dialed a number. "Find out Ji Mingyu's schedule for this period." 0

"And…," he paused, "check Lin Nuan Nuan's medical records." 0

After hanging up, he lit a cigarette. 0

As the smoke curled around him, he recalled Lin Nuan Nuan's words from earlier. 0

So she had been ill for a year. 0

So every time she said she felt unwell, she wasn’t just being coy. 0

He, however, gave all his tenderness to Su Jin. 0

Huo Jing Shen fiercely extinguished the cigarette butt, a glint of ruthlessness flashing in his eyes. 0

He needed to uncover everything. 0

Including… whether Su Jin had lied. 0

Ji Mingyu's car stopped in front of an apartment building. 0

"This is…?" Lin Nuan Nuan asked, puzzled. 0

"This is the apartment I rented for you," Ji Mingyu replied. "You can't go back to the Huo family." 0

Lin Nuan Nuan was taken aback. "When did you…?" 0

"Right when you said you wanted to be discharged," Ji Mingyu said, handing her the keys. "Don't worry, I've already paid three months' rent." 0

Three months. 0

That number again. 0

Lin Nuan Nuan tightened her grip on the keys and forced a smile. "You seem to know exactly how long I have left to live." 0

"Nuan Nuan…" 0

"Thank you." She interrupted him, "But I will pay you back for the rent." 0

Ji Mingyu didn't say anything more; he simply handed her a business card. "This is my personal number. You can call me anytime." 0

Lin Nuan Nuan took it and turned to leave. 0

"Wait." Ji Mingyu called out to her, "Are you really not going to have the surgery?" 0

"If it's a money issue..." 0

Lin Nuan Nuan shook her head. "It's not about the money." 0

"Then what is it?" 0

She turned around, her smile under the moonlight particularly sorrowful. "I just want to know, if I die, will he be sad?" 0

"You..." 0

"I'm just joking." Lin Nuan Nuan blinked. "I just feel that living is too exhausting." 0

The apartment was small but kept very clean. 0

Lin Nuan Nuan lay on the bed, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling. 0

Her phone vibrated; it was a message from Huo Jing Shen: 0
[Where are you?] 0

She ignored it. 0

Another message came in: 0
[Where did you and Ji Mingyu go?] 0

Still no reply. 0

A third message arrived: 0
[Lin Nuan Nuan, you'd better come back right now.] 0

Lin Nuan Nuan coldly laughed and immediately blocked him. 0

Just as she put down her phone, the doorbell rang suddenly. 0

She cautiously walked to the door and peered through the peephole, seeing Su Jin standing outside. 0

"Sister Nuan Nuan, I know you're home," Su Jin said with a smile. "Open the door." 0

Lin Nuan Nuan remained still. 0

"Not opening is fine too," Su Jin leaned against the doorframe. "After all, what I have to say, you can hear through the door." 0

"Jing Shen found your medical records," she said softly. "Do you know how he reacted?" 0

"He canceled the engagement banquet and had someone investigate me." 0

"Sister Nuan Nuan, you won," Su Jin's voice dripped with hatred. "You finally got what you wanted." 0

Lin Nuan Nuan finally opened the door. "Do you think I'm putting on an act?" 0

"What else could it be?" Su Jin sneered. "Do you think I don't know about you and Ji Mingyu..." 0

Slap! 0

A loud slap echoed in the air. 0
