Every time our eyes met in class, there was a hint of tenderness. We would study together in the library's study room, occasionally stepping outside to relax and take a stroll in the school garden.
"What if I don't do well on the exam?" I worried, knowing my grades weren't as good as Shen Zhiyan's. The thought of him going to university and meeting someone he liked better terrified me.
Shen Zhiyan held my hand tightly, his gaze unwavering. "You will definitely do well."
The day of the college entrance exam finally arrived, and I said goodbye to my parents. After exchanging glances with Shen Zhiyan, I walked into the exam hall with a mix of anxiety and anticipation.
In every exam, I gave it my all because I knew this was not just for my years of hard work but also for the dreams that Shen Zhiyan and I shared.
After finishing the last exam, I stepped out of the hall and looked up at the sky.
"Xiao Xiong!" Hearing Shen Zhiyan call me, I hurried over.
He took my hand. "Let's go."
I felt a bit shy as our classmates watched us. "Is this really okay?"
"Should I carry you? Or maybe give you a piggyback ride?"
Um, let's just hold hands for now.
When I saw my parents waiting outside the exam hall, my face flushed again. Their eyes were filled with pride, showing no surprise at all.
"Mom, Dad, aren't you curious?"
"Your thoughts are written all over your face," my mother teased, making me blush even more.
I shot a glare at Shen Zhiyan, but he just smiled foolishly at me.
Having gained my parents' approval, we no longer had to hide our relationship.
At the high school farewell party, my classmates teased us relentlessly.
"You're always together and still won't admit you're dating."
"Exactly! Every time Shen Zhiyan looks at Xiao Nuan, his gaze is so gentle it’s almost overflowing."
"I asked Shen Zhiyan for help with a problem, and he just coldly said, 'I can't.' But when Xiao Nuan asks, he practically talks for a whole day."
"He even steals glances at Xiao Nuan all the time."
Amidst the playful banter from our classmates, Shen Zhiyan finally conceded.
"I just like Little Bear; I've liked her since middle school," he declared loudly.
As laughter erupted around us, I tugged at his sleeve.
Shen Zhiyan turned to look at me and wrapped his arms tightly around me.
It felt wonderful; you like me, and I just happen to like you too.
Glancing at the calendar on my phone, the countdown numbers felt like little demons taunting me.
Shen Zhiyan stayed by my side as we waited in front of the computer to check our scores. I nervously held his hand.
Finally, the results page loaded, and my heart raced.
Taking a deep breath, Shen Zhiyan was the first to enter his information, his fingers moving awkwardly over the mouse.
Watching him made my anxiety grow even more.
"721 points! Oh my gosh!" I sighed in relief as I looked at his score.
Now it was my turn. I slowly moved the mouse, nervously entering my information, as if those simple clicks determined our future.
The numbers on the screen began to appear slowly, and my heartbeat quickened.
When I saw my score, I could hardly believe my eyes; those rows of numbers represented the fruits of my hard work.
"701 points!" Shen Zhiyan exclaimed, and I double-checked several times, terrified that I had misread my score.
We both spoke at once: "We can go to the same university!"
Shen Zhiyan excitedly hugged me, completely oblivious to the teasing smiles of my parents and Uncle Shen and Aunt Lu.
"Little Bear, we can finally go to college together," Shen Zhiyan said, looking at me with deep affection in his eyes.
"Thank you, Zhi Yan," I replied, my face slightly flushed. "Because of you, I can walk forward with confidence."
On this sunny day, my heart was filled with hope and anticipation for the future.
"Why be so polite? You are my Little Bear Biscuit!"
Hand in hand, we finally stepped toward a future where we would have each other.
