Lin Mo tightly gripped the crucial clue he had discovered in the ruins, his gaze resolute as he faced off against the man in black. Su Yuqing and the old professor huddled behind him, their faces etched with worry. A group of black-clad figures fanned out behind their leader, surrounding them completely, and the atmosphere was charged with tension.
"Don't dream! You guys won't succeed!" Lin Mo shouted, his forehead marked by Striation, which glowed with an eerie blue light, seemingly echoing his inner fury.
The man in black sneered, "Hmph, just you? You're nothing but a pitiful creature controlled by a curse. Hand over the clue obediently, and perhaps I'll spare your life."
As soon as he finished speaking, he waved his hand, and the black-clad figures lunged toward Lin Mo and his companions. Taking a deep breath, Lin Mo focused his mind and summoned the power related to time and space travel within him. He realized that in this life-and-death moment, his control over that power seemed to reach new heights. With a flash of movement, he deftly dodged the fierce attacks of the black-clad men and seized the opportunity to unleash a powerful punch that struck one of them squarely in the chest, sending him flying.
Su Yuqing was not to be outdone; drawing on her archaeological knowledge, she picked up some stones inscribed with special symbols from the ground and hurled them at the attackers. With her clever use of these stones, she managed to disrupt their rhythm, causing confusion among them.
Though the old professor was physically exhausted, he cheered on Lin Mo and Su Yuqing while scanning their surroundings for a way to turn the tide.
However, outnumbered and outmatched by the well-trained black-clad figures, Lin Mo and Su Yuqing began to feel overwhelmed. Several wounds appeared on Lin Mo's body, blood staining his clothes; Su Yuqing also suffered a cut on her arm while trying to evade an attack.
At that moment, seizing an opportunity, the man in black charged at Lin Mo with a glinting dagger aimed directly at his heart. Unable to dodge in time, Lin Mo could only raise his arm to block it; the dagger plunged deep into his forearm, sending a wave of agony coursing through him.
"Lin Mo!" Su Yuqing cried out in alarm, her heart racing.
Gritting his teeth against the pain, Lin Mo summoned all his strength to throw the man in black aside. He knew that if things continued like this, they would all die here; he had to find a way to reverse their fate. Scanning his surroundings, he spotted a massive stone platform nearby covered in symbols similar to those found in the ruins. He suspected that this platform might be connected to the Time-Space Rift.
Ignoring his injuries, Lin Mo sprinted toward the stone platform. The man in black quickly understood his intent and led his followers in pursuit. Reaching the platform's edge, Lin Mo noticed a groove that matched the shape of a crucial fragment of clue he held. Without hesitation, he placed the fragment into the groove.
In an instant, brilliant light erupted from the stone platform as a powerful force surged forth, knocking back the surrounding black-clad figures. The man in black steadied himself, fear flickering in his eyes before it was replaced by malice: "Do you think this will stop us?"
As the light intensified, time and space began to warp around them; everything became blurred. Lin Mo found himself entering a strange realm filled with flickering beams of light as if different timelines were intertwining. The man in black and his subordinates were also caught up in this space but found their movements severely hindered.
"This is... a crevice in time and space?" Lin Mo gasped internally as he realized he had inadvertently stumbled into an extremely dangerous place.
Within this Time-Space Crevice, Lin Mo discovered that his powers were greatly restricted while the man in black seized this chance to attack him again. Dodging while contemplating an escape route, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure amidst one of the light beams—Su Yuqing as she appeared in her past life. She seemed to be conveying some message to him; concentrating hard on her presence brought an ancient incantation to mind.
Without time for further thought, Lin Mo began reciting the incantation aloud. As he spoke the words, the forces within the Time-Space Crevice began to shift; those beams of light gradually converged into a powerful force directed at the man in black and his followers. The black-clad figures screamed in agony under its impact.
The man in black gritted his teeth and spat out defiantly: "Don't get cocky! Even if you can temporarily stop us, you can't change our ultimate fate. The power of time and space is beyond your control; once its balance is broken, the entire world will descend into chaos—neither you nor your loved ones will survive!"
Lin Mo's heart sank as he realized there might be truth in what the man said. If they continued resisting and used Time-Space Power to repel them, it could lead to even more severe consequences. Yet if he surrendered now and allowed them to obtain the clue, their conspiracy would succeed and bring disaster upon the world.
At that moment, Su Yuqing and the old professor were also trapped at the edge of the Time-Space Crevice; their lives were at stake. Lin Mo found himself facing an agonizing choice: pursue immediate victory by risking Time-Space Power for himself and his companions but potentially cause temporal collapse or relinquish resistance and hope for a safer future method to thwart Mysterious Organization—knowing it meant putting his friends in danger.
In this critical moment of decision-making, countless images flashed through Lin Mo's mind: moments spent researching ancient texts with Su Yuqing; snippets from his modern life; innocent people threatened by Mysterious Organization. He understood deeply that he bore significant responsibility; he could not afford to make a hasty decision driven by impulse.
"I can't let you succeed nor allow chaos to engulf our world!" Lin Mo shouted internally. He resolved first to stabilize the forces within Time-Space Crevice to protect Su Yuqing and the old professor before seeking an opportunity to drive out the man in black and his followers from this perilous realm.
Focusing intently on controlling those gathered Time-Space Powers, Lin Mo discovered that as long as he maintained inner peace and resonated with these forces, he could manage them to some extent. Thus, he closed his eyes and took several deep breaths until his emotions gradually settled down.
With Lin Mo's efforts, the forces within the Time-Space Crevice gradually calmed down, ceasing their rampant destruction. The man in black and his subordinates temporarily halted their attacks, staring at Lin Mo in astonishment, unable to comprehend how he had achieved this.
"Do you think you can trap us like this?" the man in black said begrudgingly.
Lin Mo opened his eyes and coldly regarded him. "You won't leave here easily. Today, I will stop your conspiracy!"
Just as the two sides reached a stalemate, a massive vortex suddenly appeared within the Time-Space Crevice. This vortex emitted a powerful suction that drew everything around it towards itself. The man in black and his subordinates were thrown into chaos, desperately struggling to escape the vortex's pull.
Lin Mo realized that this vortex was a manifestation of the Time-Space Power going out of control. If he did not act quickly, the entire Time-Space Crevice would be consumed by it, including himself, Su Yuqing, and the old professor. Gritting his teeth, he decided to take another risk.
Lin Mo concentrated all his strength and charged towards the vortex. His body swayed precariously under the vortex's suction, but with unwavering determination, he moved closer to its center step by step. At the moment he neared the center of the vortex, Lin Mo unleashed all the power within him to counteract the force of the vortex.
In an instant, brilliant light erupted within the Time-Space Crevice, and a massive Energy Fluctuation caused the entire space to tremble. The man in black and his subordinates were knocked unconscious by this Energy Fluctuation, drifting toward the edges of the Time-Space Crevice.
Through Lin Mo's efforts, the power of the vortex was gradually suppressed until it finally vanished. Everything within the Time-Space Crevice returned to calm.
Exhausted, Lin Mo collapsed onto the ground; his body had reached its limit. Su Yuqing and the old professor rushed over to help him up.
"Lin Mo, are you okay?" Su Yuqing asked anxiously.
Lin Mo weakly smiled. "I... I'm fine. We need to leave here quickly; the man in black and his crew aren't dead yet. Once they wake up, we'll be in trouble."
The three searched for an exit within the Time-Space Crevice and eventually discovered a passage leading back to the outside world. They walked through it and returned to reality.
However, Lin Mo knew that this battle was not over. The Mysterious Organization would not let this go easily; they had to find a way to lift the curse and thwart the Mysterious Organization's plans as soon as possible, or else peace would remain elusive. After this fierce battle, Lin Mo also understood that in future confrontations, he must use Time-Space Power more cautiously because every choice could determine countless lives.
