After several days of careful preparation, I specifically posted a message at the end of the latest installment of my novel:
"Thanks to Chang Lu Ming for your wonderful comments, which often enlighten me. You mentioned that you also reside in the harbor city; what a coincidence! I hope we can have the opportunity to chat face-to-face in the future and receive more interesting suggestions to make 'False Murder' even better~~"
After the update, I anxiously awaited a response.
A few hours later, Chang Lu Ming replied, and to my surprise, he gladly accepted my invitation.
He suggested we meet at the café that had been converted from the barbershop downstairs from Lin Wen's home.
I immediately informed Li Chuang, who decided to arrange for Little Officer to disguise as a café server to assist me. Li Chuang would also pose as a customer sitting nearby to ensure we could successfully obtain Zhao Luming's DNA sample.
The agreed time was set for three days later at 3 PM.
I arrived early at the café, and Li Chuang and Little Officer were already in position.
I chose a seat by the window and ordered an Americano, quietly waiting for Zhao Luming's arrival.
At 2:55 PM, the door swung open, and a man walked in.
I immediately matched this person with Zhao Luming's photo in my mind—it's him!
Zhao Luming was tall and slender, wearing a dark gray wool coat, his shoulder-length hair neatly combed back, revealing a smooth forehead. At first glance, he appeared refined, but I could sense a neurotic aura surrounding him.
After scanning the café, his gaze finally landed on me. He immediately broke into a polite smile and walked straight over.
"Mr. Qin Mo?"
I stood up and shook his hand. "Mr. Chang Lu Ming, it's a pleasure to meet you."
After ordering a latte, we exchanged pleasantries. I pretended it was my first time learning about him as the violinist Zhao Luming, expressing surprise as we discussed music, literature, and insights on life.
Suddenly, Zhao Luming fell into a brief silence, gently stirring his coffee before looking up again.
"Mr. Qin Mo, to be honest, the reason I pay such close attention to your novel is due to a personal experience of mine that coincidentally aligns with your story."
I felt a stir in my heart but maintained an expression of surprise on my face. "Oh? Such a coincidence? Would you mind sharing your experience?"
Zhao Luming did not answer immediately; after a moment, he gave a faint bitter smile. "That was many years ago—there was a girl I once loved deeply. Just like in your novel, I lost her forever..."
During our conversation, I noticed that whenever we touched upon events from twenty years ago, pain would flash in Zhao Luming's eyes as he consistently avoided discussing it further.
Moreover, I found obtaining his DNA sample much more challenging than I had anticipated.
Zhao Luming had not touched the coffee in front of him from the beginning, either out of caution or simply because it did not suit his taste. He only stirred it occasionally.
I realized that I could not just sit back and wait; I had to take the initiative.
"Mr. Zhao, would you like to try the cake here? Their signature Napoleon is quite good," I suggested.
Without waiting for his response, I immediately ordered a slice.
Soon, the Little Officer waiter brought the cake over. I enthusiastically urged Zhao Luming to take a bite of it. Although he seemed a bit hesitant, he could not refuse my earnest invitation and took a small taste.
That was it!
I had obtained Zhao Luming's DNA sample!
