After Lin Mo and Su Yuqing obtained crucial clues from the stone tablet at the mountain peak, they had yet to fully digest the information when the surrounding Time-Space Disturbance suddenly intensified. The originally clear sky was instantly shrouded by dark clouds, thick and rolling, as if they were about to swallow the entire mountain. The ground beneath them began to tremble violently, and massive cracks opened like the gaping mouths of ferocious beasts, revealing bottomless depths where scorching magma churned, emitting a pungent sulfur smell.
"This is bad; the space-time here is about to collapse completely!" Lin Mo shouted, his voice nearly drowned out by the howling winds. He tightly grasped Su Yuqing's hand, trying to steady himself amidst the chaos. Su Yuqing's face was pale, but her eyes were resolute; she knew that panicking would do no good at this moment.
As they searched for a safe place, a group of dark figures rapidly descended from the clouds. As they drew closer, it became clear that these were mysterious individuals clad in black combat suits. Each wore a silver mask that concealed their faces, leaving only their cold, sharp eyes visible. They wielded strange weapons that glimmered with an eerie blue light, clearly not ordinary gear.
Once on the ground, the mysterious figures quickly surrounded Lin Mo and Su Yuqing. The leader stepped forward, his voice low and icy: "Hand over the Time Crystal and the clues you obtained from the stone tablet, or none of you will leave here alive today." Lin Mo positioned himself protectively in front of Su Yuqing, his gaze wary as he addressed the intruders: "Who are you? Why do you want to seize our clues?" The mysterious figure sneered, "Enough with the nonsense. Our motives are not for you to question. Comply, and perhaps we’ll spare your lives."
Lin Mo felt a wave of despair wash over him; already caught in a crisis of collapsing space-time, now they faced this group of mysterious attackers. Yet he showed no signs of retreating, gripping his Time-Space Longsword tightly as its blade emitted a faint blue glow from the infusion of Time-Space Power. Su Yuqing focused her energy as well, ready to unleash her rune powers to assist Lin Mo at any moment.
Seeing that Lin Mo and Su Yuqing had no intention of complying, the mysterious figures launched their attack. They moved with agility like phantoms, their weapons flashing coldly as they lunged toward Lin Mo and Su Yuqing. Lin Mo swung his Time-Space Longsword, creating a blue Light Barrier that repelled their assaults. Each clash of blades sparked brilliantly as powerful shockwaves reverberated through the air.
From behind, Su Yuqing concentrated on inscribing runes on the ground; golden symbols gradually took shape, radiating mysterious power. Some transformed into shields to enhance Lin Mo's defenses; others coalesced into energy arrows that struck at their foes, causing significant disruption. However, outnumbered and facing experienced opponents who coordinated seamlessly in their attacks, Lin Mo and Su Yuqing found themselves increasingly overwhelmed.
Lin Mo had sustained several wounds; blood stained his clothes, yet he continued to fight fiercely. Amidst the chaos of battle, he noticed similarities between these attackers' fighting styles and those of the Mysterious Organization, leading him to suspect a possible connection between them. While battling, he pondered strategies for countering their relentless assault. Suddenly struck by inspiration, he utilized Time-Space Power to create a small vortex that sucked in several nearby attackers. The mysterious figures screamed in terror as their bodies were twisted by powerful forces, rendering them unable to fight.
However, rather than retreating in fear, the attackers became even more frenzied in their assault. They seemed aware of Time-Space Power's nature and skillfully avoided the vortex's range while continuing to close in on Lin Mo and Su Yuqing. Just as they began to feel overwhelmed by fatigue, a loud cry echoed from above. Looking up, they saw a massive phoenix diving down from the clouds. The phoenix was engulfed in golden flames that shone brilliantly; wherever it flew, dark clouds dissipated instantly and the Time-Space Disturbance seemed to weaken under its influence.
The phoenix landed beside Lin Mo and Su Yuqing, spreading its enormous wings to form a golden barrier that separated them from their attackers. Its eyes sparkled with wisdom as it looked at Lin Mo and Su Yuqing and spoke: "You bear the responsibility of guarding time and space; I have come to lend you my aid." Lin Mo and Su Yuqing stared at the phoenix in astonishment, momentarily speechless.
The phoenix turned its gaze toward the mysterious figures and unleashed a powerful column of flame from its mouth. The fiery torrent surged toward them like a tidal wave, consuming everything in its path with roaring flames. The attackers scrambled to evade it but many were struck by the fire and let out anguished cries. The appearance of the phoenix completely turned the tide of battle; confusion spread among the attackers as their formation began to falter.
Seizing this opportunity, Lin Mo concentrated all his strength to unleash his Time Stasis skill. Under his control, time around them slowed dramatically; the movements of their foes became sluggish. Lin Mo charged forward toward them with his Time-Space Longsword flashing like lightning; each strike carried immense power that pushed back each attacker one by one. Meanwhile, Su Yuqing amplified her rune powers; golden symbols blazed brightly as they dealt even greater damage to their enemies.
With the phoenix's assistance, Lin Mo and Su Yuqing successfully repelled their attackers. Realizing their precarious situation had worsened, the mysterious figures fled into the clouds. Lin Mo and Su Yuqing exhaled deeply in relief as they sank wearily onto the ground. The phoenix folded its wings and approached them: "The crisis of time and space is growing more severe; you must quickly unravel the secrets of the Book of Time and Space to stop the spread of dark forces." Grateful for its help, Lin Mo looked at the phoenix: "Thank you for your assistance! Who are you exactly? Why are you helping us?" A glimmer of memory flashed in the phoenix's eyes: "I am one of the guardians of time and space; I have borne this mission since ancient times—to maintain balance within time itself. Now that dark forces are awakening, I sense your unwavering faith and formidable strength; I believe you can save time and space."
Hearing this filled Lin Mo and Su Yuqing with emotion and strength. They realized they were not alone on this journey to protect time and space. The phoenix continued: "Based on my perception of Time-Space Disturbance, the true seal location of the Book of Time and Space lies within a mysterious valley not far from here. It harbors great danger but is also key to unlocking its secrets." Lin Mo and Su Yuqing exchanged determined glances before nodding resolutely: "No matter how many challenges lie ahead, we will not back down."
Guided by the phoenix, Lin Mo and Su Yuqing set off toward the direction of the mysterious valley. They understood that their true challenges were only beginning; within that valley awaited even more dangerous foes and unknown mysteries. Yet they felt filled with courage and hope because they believed that as long as they stood together side by side, they could overcome any obstacle and safeguard balance within time itself.
