In Wu Youyou's social circle, she had never encountered anyone as detestable as Lan Qingqing. Having studied abroad, she had often followed Zong Jin around, and had seen both good and bad people, but someone as insidious as Lan Qingqing was a first for her. If it weren't for the fact that they were in a public space and that they lived in a civilized society, she would have loved to give Lan Qingqing a good beating.
Wu Youyou could no longer hold back her frustration. After all, they were in the office with dozens of employees around; she couldn't act too out of line. She gestured to Lan Qingqing, signaling her to come over.
Lan Qingqing followed Wu Youyou reluctantly, thinking that she was about to receive another round of scolding or that Wu Youyou had devised some new scheme to torment her. They went to the break room, where Lan Qingqing adopted a submissive demeanor, lowering her gaze. "I'm sorry, Wu Youyou. I know I was wrong. I didn't speak ill of anyone; I just think everyone should avoid spreading rumors. I'm just worried..."
Wu Youyou crossed her arms and coldly interrupted, "Do you really think I can't see through your act? Have you become addicted to your performance? Do you really believe you can fool everyone?"
Suddenly, Wu Youyou raised her hand and slapped Lan Qingqing across the face. The sound echoed sharply, leaving Lan Qingqing momentarily dazed. Wu Youyou smirked and said, "Not spreading rumors? You learned some internet lingo and thought you could apply it in real life? The one spreading rumors is you! Do you really think I can't see Si Qun? Do you think that's a place where you can chat freely? Use your brain a little, Lan Qingqing! On what grounds do you say my brother-in-law is looking for a woman of ill repute? Has my brother-in-law ever admitted that Dao Wen is his girlfriend? How can your mouth be so vile?"
Lan Qingqing dared not retaliate or argue back. Her face burned with humiliation, tears welling in her eyes. She felt an intense hatred towards Wu Youyou and wanted nothing more than to claw at her face, but she didn't dare.
She lifted her head to defend herself. "It was Dazong Zong who admitted it himself! I heard him say it in the elevator when he introduced Dao Wen to Manager Qian as his girlfriend. I was just trying to clarify because I didn't believe it! I'm not biased against anyone; it's just that Dao Wen's background is questionable. Shouldn't Dazong Zong's girlfriend be someone from a wealthy and distinguished family? Is that so wrong?"
While Lan Qingqing spoke eloquently, Wu Youyou only latched onto one part of her statement: Zong Jin had indeed introduced Dao Wen as his girlfriend to Manager Qian.
Wu Youyou felt a knot tightening in her chest. She was terrified that Zong Jin might have genuine feelings for Dao Wen. If Zong Jin and Dao Wen truly ended up together, what would that mean for her sister? What about the promises Zong Jin had made? And what would happen to her own feelings?
Lost in thought, Wu Youyou momentarily forgot about Lan Qingqing, but in that instant, she fully realized her feelings for Zong Jin. Her feelings for him went beyond familial ties; she harbored selfish desires—many selfish desires.
Wu Youyou turned and walked out of the break room with a loud bang as the glass door slammed shut behind her, nearly shattering its frame.
Lan Qingqing stood frozen in place, seething with rage. She knocked over tea bags and coffee packets on the counter, trembling with anger.
In her heart, she vowed to seduce Zong Jin and trample Wu Youyou, Tong Le, and Dao Wen underfoot!
Meanwhile, in Zong Jin's office...
Wu Youyou found herself disappointed; there was no sign of Zong Jin in the office.
She approached the front desk secretary and asked, "Where is Zong Jin? Where did he go?"
The female secretary stood up and replied, "Dazong Zong just went downstairs to see Miss Dao Wen off and hasn't returned yet."
"Wu Youyou asked, where is Tong Le? Where did Tong Le go?"
The female secretary replied, "In the conference room. She should be in a meeting with Xiao Zong Zong right now."
Meanwhile, in the conference room.
