Sun Hu was terrified. The dagger in Hou Yi's hand, though small, was incredibly sharp. Everyone in their circle knew that Hou Yi was reckless and fearless. He recalled a recent incident where Hou Yi had been caught in a chaotic brawl during a riot. Two groups were clashing fiercely, but no one expected it to turn deadly—except for the fearless Hou Yi, who pulled out his dagger and stabbed someone, aiming for vital spots.
Though the injured person survived, they never dared to provoke Hou Yi again. Everyone knew that while they could handle a fight, they feared those who were willing to risk everything. Hou Yi didn’t end up in jail; after all, he came from a wealthy family, and there were always people willing to take the blame for him.
Sun Hu had always known that his older brother, Hou Yi, had an extremely unstable temperament—volatile and quick to anger. He genuinely feared that the dagger pressed against his throat would slice through his neck like cutting a chicken!
His voice trembled as he pleaded, "President Hou! I'm just a useless coward! I shouldn't have caused you trouble! I'm sorry, President Hou! I'm so sorry!"
Hou Yi withdrew the dagger, seemingly uninterested. He sat on the edge of the bed, propping himself up with his hands behind him, tilting his head back as he stretched his neck and arms. Coldly, he asked, "How did you get involved with Zong's people? Do you really think the little money you have can get you anywhere with them?"
He shot a cold glance at Sun Hu, who didn’t dare lift his head.
"Xiang Dai! President Hou! It’s because of a woman! Because of Dao Wen, the bar owner! Zong Jin stood up for Dao Wen, and then his brother Zong Zeyu beat me up!" Sun Hu cried out, looking pitifully at Hou Yi while pointing at the various bruises on his body. "Look at what they did to me!"
Hou Yi was momentarily confused; he didn’t quite understand who Dao Wen was or whether it was Zong Jin or Zong Zeyu standing up for her. But none of that mattered now; he had caught the crucial detail—Zong Zeyu was the one who had hurt Sun Hu.
With a chilling tone, Hou Yi remarked, "A man who stands up for a woman is the most foolish of all. I despise foolish people—men and women alike."
Sun Hu nodded vigorously. "Yes! Exactly! They’re all idiots! They deserve to die!"
Meanwhile, at Zong Group.
Tong Le and Wu Youyou had gone to the break room together. Lan Qingqing was no longer there, and everyone else had scattered as well. Only Zong Jin remained.
Wu Youyou hurried over to ask, "Did Lan Qingqing faint? Where is she?"
Zong Jin’s expression was serious. "She was punished by you? You made her go from the first floor to the rooftop and apologize to everyone?"
Wu Youyou found this amusing; Lan Qingqing had actually turned into the accuser!
She defended herself confidently. "Of course! She provoked me by gossiping behind my back; I had every right to deal with her!"
Zong Jin took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger. "I allow you to handle your personal grievances, but this is a company! Don’t you care about the impact?"
His tone was naturally reproachful, but since he was addressing Wu Youyou, he managed to temper it considerably.
