Lan Qingqing picked up her phone and sent a message to Ke Jie. "Tong Le is back at the company again? Why is she always following Xiao Zong Zong around? It's so strange."
Ke Jie replied, "Has Tong Le gotten close to the big boss at Zong Group yet? You should focus on serious matters and find out about the real estate information under Tong Le's name for me."
Lan Qingqing responded, "What about the thing you mentioned last time? Didn't you promise to help me find a fake fiancé? My colleagues are all curious about what my fiancé does and what he looks like."
Ke Jie assured her, "I've found someone. Don't worry."
Meanwhile, Tong Le entered Zong Zeyu's office. Before long, the secretary brought in a pre-ordered meal for two.
Zong Zeyu sat across from Tong Le and began to eat.
Tong Le reminded him, "You shouldn't order two meals in the future; otherwise, people in the company will talk. It looks strange for me to be eating here when I've already had my meal."
Zong Zeyu held his bowl and replied, "You only had a triangle onigiri; just eat. Hurry up and eat more so I can hold you comfortably."
Tong Le felt a lump in her throat. She was genuinely uncomfortable, but there was nothing she could do; that was Zong Zeyu's way of speaking, and she couldn't control it.
The spread of food before them was indeed tempting, colorful and fragrant, making her stomach growl.
As they ate together, it was rare for Tong Le to feel at ease while dining. They quietly enjoyed their meal in the office, occasionally exchanging glances or smiles without any other distractions.
It felt like years since she had such a peaceful meal. Back home, every time they ate, Zhang Huizhi would chatter incessantly—either scolding her for not doing something right or instructing her to serve rice or soup.
They both finished their meals at nearly the same time and set down their bowls. Both bowls were spotless, with not a grain of rice left.
Zong Zeyu picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth and said, "Not wasting food is a habit."
Tong Le nodded in agreement. "Yes, my dad often reminds me not to waste food either."
Zong Zeyu glanced at the project documents that Tong Le had set aside and said, "You should rest here this afternoon. Lie down on the sofa and take a nap; I'll look over the documents slowly."
Just as Tong Le was about to refuse, Zong Zeyu added, "Anyway, I'm not signing this document yet, so you can't leave. Forget about other thoughts; whenever you wake up from your nap here is when I'll sign and let you go."
Tong Le silently looked into Zong Zeyu's eyes. She had so much she wanted to say but couldn't find the words. In her life, aside from her father's meticulous love, only Zong Zeyu made her feel cared for—allowing her to eat and sleep without any other concerns.
Meanwhile, at Tongshan Real Estate Company.
Ke Jie went downstairs alone and headed to a café located at the bottom of the office building.
Upon entering the café, he spotted the person he was meeting—his distant cousin, Mo Kai Liang.
Mo Kai Liang was dressed in slightly outdated business casual attire that clearly looked like it had been picked up from a wholesale market.
Ke Jie greeted him with a smile. "Mo Kai Liang!"
Mo Kai Liang turned around, filled with excitement.
Ke Jie stepped forward and embraced him, saying, "It's been a long time, Mo Kai Liang."
Mo Kai Liang, looking somewhat inexperienced as if he had just arrived in the city, pointed at the menu and said, "I’d like a cup of coffee here. I only ordered the complimentary lemonade. Brother, how about we find another place to chat?"
Ke Jie immediately ordered coffee and snacks from the waiter; it cost over twenty dollars altogether.
Seeing his brother's lavish demeanor, Mo Kai Liang couldn't help but think that he must have struck it rich.
As they took their seats, Ke Jie looked Mo Kai Liang up and down. After many years apart, Mo Kai Liang was still as handsome as he had been in childhood, though his skin had darkened somewhat from years of working in the fields with their father.
Mo Kai Liang was the choice Ke Jie had made for Lan Qingqing's future husband; however, Ke Jie had other intentions as well.
