Tong Le left the house early in the morning, and after she got up, she quickly tidied up her personal belongings and clothes. She rummaged through everything that belonged to Ke Jie and packed it all into two large suitcases. Looking at the two suitcases standing at her doorstep, she realized that driving the scum out of her life was merely a matter of moving those two cases.
Turning back to survey the home filled with traces of time, she pushed aside the unpleasant memories associated with Ke Jie and Zhang Huizhi. What came to her mind were only the happy moments connected to her family. Before long, this place would be clean and tidy again; she would erase every trace of Ke Jie and Zhang Huizhi completely. She would allow everything to return to zero and give herself a fresh start.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
When Tong Le opened the door, it was Dao Wen. Dressed in a white long dress, Dao Wen looked particularly refreshing today. She glanced at the two suitcases at the entrance and asked, "Are these all Ke Jie’s things?"
Tong Le nodded. "I’m taking these two suitcases to Si Dormitory today. Starting tonight, Ke Jie will be living there. Once the new property deed arrives, I’ll hire cleaning staff to thoroughly clean this place."
Dao Wen replied, "That definitely needs a good cleaning. It would be best to disinfect as well; Ke Jie and Zhang Huizhi are among the most toxic people I've ever encountered."
Tong Le chuckled at that.
Dao Wen stepped inside and continued, "This morning, the payment for the house will be transferred to Ke Jie’s account, so this house will no longer be associated with you or him. But don’t worry; I’ve arranged everything for the purchase with a signed agreement. Essentially, this house still belongs to you. With just one word from you, it can be transferred back into your name."
She added, "As for the ten million cash used for the purchase, that has nothing to do with me anymore. That money was provided by Zong Zeyu; you’ll have to repay him for that debt and favor."
"I know," Tong Le assured her. "I have a plan for this; I’ll handle it well."
Dao Wen reminded her, "Li Hongmei successfully lured Zhang Huizhi in according to your script. Yesterday afternoon, Zhang Huizhi invited Li Hongmei to watch a play today, and she agreed. If all goes well, Li Hongmei will trick Zhang Huizhi into funneling money from her account into our project fund."
Tong Le said thoughtfully, "With Ke Jie’s meticulous nature, once he receives the payment for the house, he will immediately transfer it to Zhang Huizhi or put it in a fixed deposit. He won’t let this sale become shared marital property. Every move he makes is calculated; he’s trying to gradually undermine me—whether it’s the house, car, or savings—he’s doing it all."
Dao Wen remarked, "That’s why choosing the right man is so important. A woman’s happiness in life often depends on her partner's character. If he has good character, she might live a stable life; if not, most of her troubles will stem from him."
Tong Le felt a shiver run down her spine at those words. "So after I divorce Ke Jie, I think I’ll embrace a philosophy of remaining single—staying away from men and misfortune!"
Dao Wen laughed lightly. "You don’t need to be so sensitive; there are good men out there too—Zong Zeyu is one of them."
Tong Le replied, "He may be good, but I’m not! If I were really with him, I’d just bring him all sorts of troubles and unrest!"
Dao Wen countered playfully, "You’re just a small fry; what kind of storms could you possibly bring him? Your little troubles are nothing more than a tickle in his eyes."
"Come on," Dao Wen urged as she picked up one of the suitcases. "Let’s take these downstairs and get them sent off to your Si Dormitory. I've already notified the locksmith to come change the locks; after that, no one will be able to get in."
At this moment, she truly felt that today marked her first genuine step toward revenge, and she had, in a real sense, reclaimed what rightfully belonged to her. This house was just her first step; next, she intended to take back even more, returning the favor in kind. If Ke Jie sought to completely undermine her, then she would ensure that Ke Jie ended up with nothing.
