Lan Qingqing dared not speak back, let alone refuse. Although it was absurd to be in a nightclub wearing pajamas at this hour, she had no choice; Hou Yi's generosity was overwhelming. Every time they met, he showered her with gifts—be it Hermes bags or skincare products. Even though she was pregnant now, she wanted to keep this man close, more so because he was like an endless ATM dispensing gold coins.
Following Hou Yi into the nightclub, the convertible car maintained its open-top state as the cool night breeze blew, making her sneeze and sniffle. Naturally, Hou Yi showed no concern for her; being considerate towards women was harder for him than death itself.
The nightclub they were heading to was the most prestigious in town. His friends were already there, enjoying themselves. When they saw Hou Yi arrive, they greeted him enthusiastically, but no one paid attention to Lan Qingqing. After all, Hou Yi brought different women each time, and they hardly regarded her as significant.
Lan Qingqing stayed close to Hou Yi's side as friends came over to clink glasses with him. He responded casually and then began mixing drinks for himself at their table. He prepared a drink for Lan Qingqing and pushed it towards her, signaling her to drink.
She reached for the glass but suddenly remembered her pregnancy and quickly waved her hand in refusal. "I can't drink alcohol; have you forgotten?"
She thought that Hou Yi must have forgotten about her condition. Pregnant women shouldn't consume alcohol, especially something with high alcohol content; it could easily affect the baby's brain development.
Recalling the last time she had intentionally encouraged Tong Le to drink, she felt a pang of regret. She should have tried harder to get Tong Le drunk so that the baby inside her would be affected—then Tong Le would have no choice but to stop flaunting herself!
Hou Yi tilted his head and looked at Lan Qingqing. He didn't care whether she was pregnant or not; it had nothing to do with him. He gestured for her to come outside with him and said, "Not drinking is disrespectful to me."
Lan Qingqing smiled and explained, "You forgot that I have a little baby in my belly? I really can't drink."
Hou Yi's expression suddenly darkened. This abrupt change made Lan Qingqing grab the glass instinctively; she dared not resist him.
Taking small sips from the glass, Hou Yi suddenly took hold of the bottom of it and forced her to finish the entire drink. The glass wasn't large—about the size of two thumbs—but the alcohol content was significant.
Reluctant and regretting it, Lan Qingqing worried about how this would affect her baby. Although she had lost some affection for Ke Wenjie, this child was her only bargaining chip against him; she had to protect it.
With a hint of flattery, she lightly wrapped her arm around Hou Yi's. "I'll only drink this one cup, okay? I really can't have more."
Hou Yi sneered, "Do you like Ke Wenjie that much?"
Lan Qingqing explained, "Didn't we agree not to interfere with my personal life?"
He didn't care; he took small sips from his glass and said coldly, "There will come a day when you’ll be begging me."
Lan Qingqing accompanied Hou Yi in the nightclub for three or four hours. During this time, numerous beautiful women approached him with drinks in hand. It was evident that these women were there for Hou Yi; they didn't care whether he had a girlfriend or not. Everyone knew that the young master of the Hou family was extravagant, especially towards his women.
Many women who pursued this kind of thrill hoped for an exciting romance with Hou Yi—even if it led nowhere, they could still gain substantial benefits.
Lan Qingqing noticed their intentions and several times proactively stood up to block their drinks. As a result, she ended up drinking more than she intended. Ultimately driven by competitiveness, she forgot about the baby in her belly and focused solely on one thing: Hou Yi was her man.
Hou Yi watched the scene unfold beside him, unable to suppress a laugh. He couldn't fathom how someone as foolish as Lan Qingqing managed to manipulate Tong Le so thoroughly. At that moment, he felt Tong Le was even more foolish than Lan Qingqing. Yet, it was this exceedingly foolish woman who stirred his emotions, leaving him perplexed.
As the night club emptied, Hou Yi called a designated driver to take Lan Qingqing back to her residence.
Once the car drove away, Lan Qingqing stood at the entrance of her apartment complex and let out a deep sigh of relief. She felt exhausted—her body weary and her heart heavy. It dawned on her that she had unknowingly consumed too much alcohol that night and wondered if it would affect the baby growing inside her.
Glancing at her phone, she was shocked to see it was already four in the morning.
Hurrying through the building's entrance and up the stairs, she was taken aback by the sight awaiting her at her door. Mo Kai Liang was sitting against the door, dozing off while cradling several freshly ironed clothes.
Lan Qingqing gently kicked Mo Kai Liang's thigh and whispered, "Hey! Wake up! How did you end up sleeping here?"
Mo Kai Liang groggily opened his eyes and sat up. Rubbing his eyes, he checked the time on his phone before looking at Lan Qingqing, who appeared far from well. Concern etched on his face, he asked, "Where have you been all night? I came by around ten to drop off your clothes, but you weren't home. I called you, but you didn't answer. I knocked hard on the door, and He Shui Xian said you were out."
Lan Qingqing walked around Mo Kai Liang and unlocked the door. "So you just slept outside my door all night? You're quite stubborn."
Noticing the smell of smoke and alcohol on her, Mo Kai Liang asked, "Have you been drinking? Where were you last night? Who were you with?"
Lan Qingqing stepped inside and changed her shoes. "Don't worry about it; just do what you're supposed to do. Knowing too much won't benefit you."
Mo Kai Liang hung the ironed clothes on a rack and quickly approached her. "Did you drink? You're pregnant now; this could harm the baby. I don’t care who you were with last night, but you need to think about your child."
