In the lobby of the corporate building, Cui Zhi hurriedly made her way towards the exit. Just as she was about to step outside, she found herself surrounded by a swarm of reporters. It was unclear who had leaked the news about Zong Zeyu's alleged involvement with a married woman, but it was evident that these journalists had far too much time on their hands, not even sparing a moment for Zong Zeyu's scandalous affairs.
Looking at the dense crowd before her, Cui Zhi sighed silently and helplessly thought, "What good will it do to ask me? I’m not the one who seduced that woman! It was my son who did!" She attempted to push her way through the throng, but it was futile.
Frustrated, Cui Zhi rolled her eyes. She was in a hurry to attend a beauty appointment, and these people were blocking her path—how infuriating! The questions buzzing around her were repetitive and tiresome.
Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she decided to speak nonsense. After all, she had seen enough of the unscrupulous media over the years; few of them were reputable or ever told the truth.
Cui Zhi shouted at the crowd of reporters, "You are all so boring! Since you care so much about my son, why don’t you help me talk some sense into him? Do you think I haven’t tried? I’ve told him a hundred times that Tong Le is just a silly and naive girl—what’s so great about her? What could he possibly like? A girl who can be easily deceived with just a few words doesn’t deserve to be part of our Zong Group! Look at her; she’s clearly not very bright. How could someone like her end up losing everything because of her husband and in-laws? Tsk tsk, how foolish can one be? She must be incredibly kind-hearted to let her entire family take advantage of her! With Tong Le’s level of intelligence, I wouldn’t want her even if she were offered to me!"
Cui Zhi feigned an expression of helplessness, but Zong Zeyu, that rascal, disagreed. He insisted on pursuing Tong Le, claiming she was pure and kind-hearted. While that might be true, Cui Zhi couldn’t shake off the feeling that she was simply not smart enough!
With another sigh, Cui Zhi added, "Why don’t you all help me persuade my son? I’m out of ideas here!"
With that, she put on her sunglasses and strutted out of the company building with an air of confidence. The reporters around her were left dumbfounded.
As Cui Zhi confidently walked out the door, the journalists stood still in confusion. Her unexpected remarks had completely caught them off guard! This was not at all the sensational news they had anticipated; who would have thought that Cui Zhi wouldn’t explode in anger but instead spoke with a hint of pride?
Absurd!
Realizing there was no story here worth pursuing, the reporters soon dispersed.
Ten minutes later, a taxi pulled up to the curb. The person stepping out was Zhang Huizhi.
Standing in front of the imposing Zong Group building, Zhang Huizhi tilted her head back against the glaring sunlight that made it hard for her to see. She grabbed a passerby and asked nervously, "Is this really the Zong Group? Which floor is their office on?"
The passerby replied, "This entire building is theirs, along with several others nearby."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Huizhi swallowed hard. She had never heard of anyone owning multiple high-rise buildings in such a central location! Just how wealthy must they be?
Thinking about it made Zhang Huizhi uneasy; she feared that Tong Le would rise to great heights in life. She could accept that her son wasn’t as wealthy as others; what she couldn’t bear was the thought of her daughter-in-law marrying into wealth and stepping all over her son!
Zhang Huizhi stormed into the lobby, and by chance, the security personnel were not paying attention, allowing her to slip into the elevator. She silently vowed that today, she would ensure Tong Le's reputation was utterly destroyed, leaving him in ruins!
