Zong Jin felt a wave of discomfort wash over him; he had never heard such filthy language before. In the past, he often heard Zong Zeyu say that Tong Le had not had an easy time over the years, and now it seemed that was indeed true.
Zong Jin frowned throughout the exchange. Although he would not stoop to using such venomous words against Zhang Huizhi, he understood one thing deeply: it was unwise to engage with petty individuals, as only he would suffer in the end.
Noticing that Zhang Huizhi had fallen silent, he calmly asked, "So, are you done speaking?"
Zhang Huizhi was momentarily taken aback; she felt frustrated, as if her punch had landed on a soft cushion.
Just as she was about to speak again, one of the employees in the lobby could no longer bear it. A middle-aged woman stepped forward and said, "Excuse me, ma'am, this is our company's Dazong Zong. He is not the person you are looking for. Please leave. If you continue to cause trouble here, we will call the police. You are seriously disrupting our work."
Zhang Huizhi turned and shouted at the employee, "What’s it to you? Stop trying to play the hero! He is the big boss of Zong Shi Yan Tuan! I just heard it!"
The employee scoffed. "There are two bosses of Zong Shi Yan Tuan. The one you’re looking for isn’t in the office today. Just a heads up: there are cameras in all four corners of this lobby. Your disrespectful remarks towards our Dazong Zong can get you arrested."
Zhang Huizhi felt a twinge of fear as she looked back at Zong Jin. If she had really insulted the wrong person, that would be quite embarrassing.
She turned to Zong Jin and asked, "Aren't you Tong Le's lover? Where is Tong Le's lover now?"
Before Zong Jin could respond, a figure suddenly dashed out from behind him—Wu Youyou.
Wu Youyou held a basin of dirty water in her hands and raised it high before splashing it towards Zhang Huizhi.
At that moment, applause erupted in the Office Lobby, cheers ringing out as everyone had grown tired of Zhang Huizhi's antics.
Wu Youyou stood in front of Zhang Huizhi with the basin still in hand. Just as Zhang Huizhi was about to explode with anger, Wu Youyou warned loudly, "I’ll give you three seconds to leave! Otherwise, I’ll take action! Who do you think you're scaring with your age? Do you really think our security won’t touch you?"
With that, Wu Youyou smashed the basin down onto Zhang Huizhi.
"Fine! Let’s see who’s tougher! I’m a patient with depression; my mind isn’t right! Killing someone isn’t illegal! Today I’m feeling restless; let’s play a little game!"
As she spoke, Wu Youyou pulled out something from her pocket that resembled a knife.
Zhang Huizhi immediately backed down; she wasn’t afraid of competition but feared someone who had nothing to lose.
Soaked through and reeking of foul water, she didn’t want to cause any fatalities here. Coming to her senses, she spat out a couple of harsh words and fled in panic.
She hurried into the elevator and escaped from Zong Shi Yan Tuan.
In the Office Lobby, Wu Youyou casually toyed with the knife-like object in her hand—it was just a plastic toy knife.
She flashed a playful smile at Zong Jin, who responded with praise. "You did well this time; consider it a job well done."
Zong Jin turned to leave, thinking he should explain things briefly to Tong Le and Zong Zeyu.
Clearing his throat, he noticed all the employees in the Office Lobby were now looking at him.
Zong Jin spoke up, "I feel it is necessary to clarify today’s events. The person you just saw is indeed Tong Le’s mother-in-law, and I believe everyone has seen her true character. From what I know of Tong Le, she is not the frivolous person her mother-in-law claims. On the contrary, over the years, Tong Le has suffered from the constraints and emotional abuse inflicted by her husband and mother-in-law, losing control over her own family's assets. Her husband has long bullied Tong Le, not only seizing her inheritance but also using Tong Family's money to support a mistress outside. Furthermore, those who work with Tong Le should be aware of her capabilities; she is an ambitious and talented individual, not merely someone who cooks and does laundry.
Zong Jin continued to explain that regarding the private matters between Tong Le and Zong Zeyu, everyone just needs to wait for a final outcome. Perhaps Zeyu's actions are ethically questionable, but as his brother, I am someone who understands the full situation. All I can say is that, in my view, they share mutual affection and redemption. This may not be a model relationship for everyone; emotions are inherently complex. I hope you will refrain from making hasty judgments and allow them some space.
After he finished speaking, the employees began to applaud; the wise ones were in the majority, more willing to believe Zong Jin's words than those of Zhang Huizhi, who only knew how to lash out in anger.
At that moment, Lan Qingqing rushed into the company. After getting off the elevator, she stood in the hallway, having listened to all of Zong Jin's statements. She felt jealousy and hatred; she believed Tong Le had made a grave mistake, yet everyone was speaking up for her! Cheating is one of the most despicable acts in this world! Yet in Zong Jin's mouth, it had turned into a beautiful tale? It was disgusting! Absurd!
