He was constantly engulfed in depression and despair, as if every moment of his life was a rehearsal for death. Wu Youyou looked at Hou Yi's back and shouted, "Are you going to jump or not? Didn't you say you weren't afraid of dying?"
Hou Yi took the phone from the safety officer behind him. He captured a breathtaking view from the height and sent it to Tong Le. He wrote, "I'm about to die. Are you worried?"
Tong Le replied with a question mark.
Hou Yi continued, "Bungee jumping, but it’s also a rehearsal for suicide."
Tong Le responded, "That's interesting. It's the first time I've heard that suicide can be rehearsed through bungee jumping."
Hou Yi asked, "If I really die, would you regret it?"
Tong Le replied, "When you're hanging upside down over the water, remember to send me a selfie."
Reading Tong Le's response, Hou Yi couldn't help but smile slightly. This was his first bungee jump; what would it feel like to be hanging upside down over the water?
Tong Le replied, "At the moment you jump, you'll be terrified; after falling, you'll find some relief; when the rope bounces you back up, you'll wonder when it will end; and when you're hanging still, you'll cherish life. Just think of this as a rehearsal for suicide. In this upside-down world, perhaps you'll see a different scenery. Enjoy your suicide."
After finishing Tong Le's message, Hou Yi casually tossed the phone aside and jumped without hesitation.
Wu Youyou rushed to the edge of the bungee platform. She watched as Hou Yi fell and heard his scream echoing through the valley, followed by laughter that seemed mad—mad enough for ordinary people to never understand.
Turning her gaze to the phone that Hou Yi had thrown on the ground, she saw the last message on the screen: "Enjoy your suicide." She hadn't paid attention to who he was chatting with; she was captivated by those words. She recalled how Hou Yi had looked when he fell into the water—it seemed he was truly someone who lived towards death.
Kneeling at the edge of the bungee platform, she shouted down at Hou Yi, who was hanging upside down in the water, "Hey! What does it feel like to commit suicide? Is it super exhilarating? Do you still want to die?"
In that moment of shouting, Wu Youyou felt an indescribable thrill and release for the first time. She inexplicably laughed out loud, as if she had found a frequency that resonated with her in this overly normal world.
Below the bungee platform, with black ropes dangling in the water, Hou Yi hung upside down above the surface. He gazed at this completely inverted world. Just as Tong Le had said—he leaped into the air, fell down, bounced back up, and came to a stop—seemingly completing his shallow life.
The water was sky; the sky was water; mountains pierced into the blue heavens; boats floated in midair; love was hate; hate was love.
Late at night at Zong Group.
Ke Wenjie was locked in the sports hall and still refused to agree to a divorce.
Zong Zeyu brought Tong Le to the hall. Upon seeing Ke Wenjie slumped on the floor and motionless, a bodyguard stepped forward to report, "Zong Zong, he's fine—just some minor injuries—but he's being stubborn. Should I pull out his teeth?"
Zong Zeyu walked over to Ke Wenjie, who was lying on the ground with a silly grin. Zong Zeyu had no intention of letting Ke Wenjie go; after all, he had plenty of time to waste with him.
As Zong Zeyu turned to leave, Ke Wenjie suddenly spoke up from the ground, "Ten million! Give me ten million, and I'll divorce Tong Le."
Zong Zeyu let out a cold laugh. It was true that you couldn't expect pearls from a dog's mouth; did Ke Wenjie really think he could get rich through marriage or divorce?
As Zong Zeyu and Tong Le's figures grew more distant, Ke Wenjie began to lower his demands. "Eight million! Tong Le! Zong Zeyu! Don't bully me too much! I've taken care of Tongshan Real Estate; I may not have contributed much, but I've certainly suffered!"
Tong Le turned around, furious. "You nearly dragged Tongshan Real Estate down several times! How can you say such things with a straight face?"
At that moment, a secretary came over to deliver a message: Ke Wenjie's lawyer wanted to meet.
Zong Zeyu raised an eyebrow. Ke Wenjie's phone had already been confiscated, so it was clear that this lawyer wasn't sent by him.
Turning back to Ke Wenjie, he asked, "You hired a lawyer?"
Ke Wenjie looked completely bewildered.
Zong Zeyu guessed that there must be someone powerful behind Ke Wenjie. He agreed to the meeting. The lawyer was a man who got straight to the point upon seeing Zong Zeyu. "I am Mr. Ke's attorney. Please release him now; Mr. Ke has already agreed to the divorce and is ready to proceed immediately."
Ke Wenjie suddenly sprang to his feet, about to argue back, but the male lawyer reminded him that this was Hua Jie's decision.
Ke Wenjie immediately fell silent; the lawyer was sent by Hua Rongxiao, and he had no way to refuse.
The male lawyer continued addressing Zong Zeyu, "I represent Mr. Ke fully; you can discuss the divorce proceedings with me."
Zong Zeyu glanced at Ke Wenjie, who was reluctant but had no choice but to comply.
