In Wen Cuizhi's eyes, no matter how old Zong Zeyu and Zong Jin grew, they would always resemble the mischievous little boys they were at seven or eight years old. She understood her sons; although they had reached an age where they could stand on their own, emotionally, they remained pure and kind-hearted.
Wen Cuizhi reminded Zong Zeyu, "Has Tong Le agreed to marry you yet? Have you gotten your marriage certificate?"
Zong Zeyu paused for a moment. "Isn't that just a matter of time?"
Wen Cuizhi sighed, "You always seem overly confident and sure of yourself. While I do want you to marry Tong Le—and of course, the wedding should be grand—you must consider Tong Le's feelings as well. Marriage is not something you can decide on your own."
She countered, "Tong Le hasn't finalized her divorce yet, has she? That girl doesn't strike me as someone who makes hasty decisions. She's cautious and steady; she wouldn't say anything without careful consideration."
Zong Zeyu dismissed her concerns. "I like her, and she has feelings for me too. Getting married is just a matter of time."
Wen Cuizhi reminded him, "So, you need to give her time."
She sighed quietly. A woman who had experienced a failed marriage wouldn’t find it easy to enter another one, especially someone as kind-hearted as Tong Le.
Zong Zeyu stepped in front of Wen Cuizhi and asked, "Mom, what do you think Tong Le is worried about?"
Wen Cuizhi replied, "You should ask her yourself. That's why I often teach both of you brothers that no matter how much power or wealth you hold, you must always remember to respect your friends, your rivals, and especially your partner. You also need to learn to respect women. The old rules of men working outside while women stay at home no longer apply. More and more women want to prove themselves in the workplace rather than being overshadowed by marriage or their husbands."
She continued, "In the past few years, Tong Le almost got buried alive by Ke Wenjie. Now that she has struggled free, I believe what she desires more is not a brand new marriage but a fresh start in her career."
Zong Zeyu understood his mother's point. So instead of providing her with carefree happiness, he should help her achieve her goals.
Wen Cuizhi shrugged. "Well then, you two should talk it out. In marriage, both body and soul are indispensable."
Meanwhile, in Tong Le's apartment complex.
As soon as Tong Le got out of the car, she was blocked by a figure.
Looking up, she saw Hou Yi standing in front of her.
Hou Yi had changed into a white casual outfit and stood directly in her path.
Tong Le tried to walk around him, but Hou Yi stepped back a bit to continue blocking her way.
He asked, "Have you eaten dinner yet? Let me take you out for a meal. What do you want to eat?"
Tong Le replied, "I'm not hungry."
Hou Yi suggested, "How about some drinks then? Juice?"
Tong Le responded flatly, "I'm not thirsty."
Hou Yi persisted cheerfully, "Then how about hiking to watch the sunrise? I brought my electric bike today; we can camp outside and enjoy the scenery together."
Tong Le found it hard to understand Hou Yi. "Are you free? Not doing anything? I'm busy," she said, pushing his shoulder aside and striding ahead. Hou Yi followed closely behind. "Bungee jumping was quite fun today. Want to join me next time?"
"You can play all you want, jumping every day," he replied. "You always manage to surprise me with your words, constantly throwing shade at me."
Tong Le walked briskly, "Then go find Lan Qingqing. She'll make you happy. If you want someone to tell you to behave every day, that's easy enough."
As she approached the entrance of the building, Hou Yi quickened his pace and looked at her seriously. "I can make you happy too. I don’t usually flatter women, but I can make an exception for you."
Tong Le chuckled awkwardly, "Well, I actually prefer hearing harsh truths."
