Hou Yi dialed Lan Qingqing's number. On the other end, Lan Qingqing spoke in a soft and coy voice, "What's up, darling?"
Hou Yi felt uncomfortable with the term "darling" and found it quite distasteful. He bluntly stated, "You were the one who drugged Wu Youyou last night."
He was direct; who would harbor such hatred for Wu Youyou? With her looks, it was hard to believe that any man would risk imprisonment to drug her—at least not in his opinion.
Lan Qingqing had already prepared herself mentally for this moment. She guessed that Hou Yi would be the first to confront her, so she had made up her mind to deny everything he said.
Feigning surprise, she replied, "What? Drugging? Darling, what are you talking about?"
Hou Yi calmly responded, "Stop pretending. It could only be you. Last night, you drugged Wu Youyou at the nightclub, allowing her to be assaulted by four men. This has already reached the police. Where are you now? I’m coming to find you to turn yourself in. Don’t cause me any trouble or give the nightclub owner a headache."
Lan Qingqing remained composed. "Wu Youyou was assaulted by four men?"
She struggled to suppress her laughter and pretended to be shocked. "Is that what happened last night? My goodness, is it true? Who drugged her? Are the culprits caught?"
Hou Yi frowned slightly. Before making this call, he was certain it was Lan Qingqing, but she seemed unaware of the incident.
Continuing on the phone, Lan Qingqing said, "To be honest, I feel a bit schadenfreude hearing this news. Although Wu Youyou and I are sworn enemies, she doesn’t deserve such a fate! But then again, it’s not surprising; with her arrogant personality, she must have offended many people. It’s understandable that someone would want to take revenge on her."
Lan Qingqing was particularly talkative but added dramatically, "But right now, I’m very hurt! How could you suspect me of drugging her? Hou Yi, isn’t that strange? You were drunk last night; I helped you leave the nightclub early. How could I target Wu Youyou? Besides, the ones who harmed her were those four men you mentioned. They must have been the ones who drugged her! The benefits go to them; they must have done it! Why would you think of me? Even if I despise Wu Youyou, I wouldn’t do something so extreme as to eliminate her. You think too poorly of me."
Lan Qingqing had rehearsed these lines many times. She anticipated that Wu Youyou would get into trouble last night; the dosage of that drug would render someone completely unconscious. In a nightclub setting, some inherently wicked men might easily take advantage of an unconscious and unclaimed young woman.
And so it happened—Wu Youyou was that unfortunate soul caught in such a situation, and not just with one man but four!
Thinking about this made Lan Qingqing nearly squeal with excitement! This was truly poetic justice! Reflecting on all the nasty things Wu Youyou had done to her in the past, this incident alone was enough to alleviate her hatred towards Wu Youyou!
This was exactly what Wu Youyou deserved! She couldn’t blame anyone but herself for being careless and unlucky enough to be taken advantage of by four men!
Suppressing her laughter while feeling elated inside, Lan Qingqing thought that truth and justice were on her side; those who wronged her would not escape unscathed!
On the phone, Hou Yi was left bewildered by Lan Qingqing's words.
"Are you really not involved?" he asked. "If I or the police find out that you were behind this..."
Lan Qingqing felt very confident; she knew Hou Yi and the police wouldn’t find anything because she had completely avoided the cameras and there were no witnesses.
She replied earnestly, "It really wasn’t me! That would land me in jail! Why would I lie to you? Besides, I barely had time to take care of you back then; how could I possibly think about Wu Youyou? You’re overestimating me! But what’s happening with Wu Youyou now? Have those four men been caught?"
