Hou Yi was tired of wasting time with Lan Qingqing; after all, he wouldn't get any real answers from her. He hung up the phone and stood still, pondering for a while. The situation had reached a deadlock—without finding out who had drugged Wu Youyou, there would be no resolution to this matter.
He believed that the police would quickly apprehend the four men who had assaulted Wu Youyou, but whether any of them had actually drugged her remained uncertain. Hou Yi's instincts told him that this incident was likely still tied to Lan Qingqing in some way.
That night, at the Zong Family Mansion, Zong Zeyu brought Tong Le home. They entered the house one after the other, and the atmosphere inside was heavy and silent.
Wen Cuizhi came over upon hearing their arrival. She quietly informed them, "Wu Youyou has locked herself in her room and refuses to come out. Zong Jin and I are trying not to make too much noise; she's in a state of distress and is hard to manage right now."
Tong Le nodded quickly and whispered, "We'll keep it down."
Zong Zeyu asked, "Has Wu Youyou's injury been treated?"
Wen Cuizhi replied, "The family doctor just left. The wounds have been taken care of, and they assessed her condition during the day. Everything that needed attention has been addressed. The police also called just now; they’ve caught all four of the men involved."
Wen Cuizhi's expression turned troubled as she continued, "However, none of them are admitting to drugging Wu Youyou. They claim she got drunk on her own and no one was looking after her. One of the men said he helped her out, but halfway through, they all had ulterior motives and tried to use her drunkenness as an excuse to lessen their guilt."
Tong Le spoke up angrily, "That's disgusting! They did it on purpose! We can't let them get away with a lighter punishment!"
Wen Cuizhi reassured her, "There's no need to worry about that; our lawyer will handle everything. In cases like this, there's no room for leniency—Wu Youyou has suffered too much."
Zong Zeyu remained calm. "The only thing we haven't figured out yet is who actually drugged Wu Youyou."
Wen Cuizhi nodded in agreement. "Yes, the police are still investigating, but there hasn't been any progress yet. However, their efficiency is quite high; we should have results soon."
Tong Le suggested, "Can I go upstairs to see Wu Youyou?"
Wen Cuizhi sighed. "You can try. Zong Jin and I will check on her every ten minutes; I'm worried she might do something drastic."
Tong Le went upstairs and attempted to communicate with Wu Youyou through the door. However, when she entered the room, she found Wu Youyou sitting silently on the carpet with her arms wrapped around her knees, lost in thought.
Tong Le sat down in front of Wu Youyou and gently spoke, "Wu Youyou?"
Wu Youyou glanced up at Tong Le for a moment before returning her gaze to the floor, remaining completely silent.
