Tong Le had prepared many comforting words, but at that moment, she felt that all language was pale and powerless. She couldn't empathize with Wu Youyou; the dual wounds of body and soul could not be dispelled by mere words.
Tong Le changed her tone. "The Zong Family's lawyer will help you seek justice, ensuring the harshest penalties for those four beasts. Once they have served their time in prison, we will take an Eye for an Eye approach and cut off their roots! There is a country abroad where the law states that men who violate women must be castrated. We will enact justice on their behalf!"
At this moment, Wu Youyou lifted her head again. In the past few hours, Wen Cuizhi and Zong Jin had taken turns trying to comfort her, but none succeeded. No matter how eloquently they spoke, their words never reached her heart.
However, Tong Le's declaration of Eye for an Eye brought her a bit of comfort. It was then that Tong Le realized that what Wu Youyou needed was not consolation, but revenge.
"The urgent task now is to find the beast who drugged you," Tong Le continued. "We all know you're in pain, but as long as you have breath in your body, you cannot give up on yourself. We must avenge this wrong!"
Wu Youyou's gaze focused on Tong Le's face. She was starting to regain some clarity. "Tong Le, I think the person who drugged me might be Lan Qingqing."
Upon hearing Lan Qingqing's name, Tong Le instinctively reacted with alarm. She had never anticipated that this incident would be connected to Lan Qingqing.
"Did Lan Qingqing do it last night?" Tong Le asked urgently.
At that moment, Zong Jin, who had been guarding the door, stepped into the room.
"Last night? Why didn’t you tell us about this? Why didn’t you inform the police?" Zong Jin questioned sharply.
Suddenly, Wu Youyou lost control again. She trembled all over, clutching her head with both hands and screaming at the top of her lungs as if trying to break through the ceiling.
Tong Le quickly pushed Zong Jin away, urging him to stop talking.
She attempted to embrace Wu Youyou, but Wu Youyou suddenly stood up, her eyes wide with terror as if she had seen a ghost. She looked around the room in panic before running wildly about, knocking over furniture and shattering bottles on the table. She was like a madwoman, crying and screaming.
Tong Le struggled to control Wu Youyou while Wen Cuizhi stood by the door, tears streaming down her face. Zong Zeyu and Zong Jin stepped forward and forcibly pinned Wu Youyou against the wall.
Wu Youyou glared at Zong Jin with fierce eyes as if he were a sinner. "It's all your fault! Because of you, I went to that nightclub! Because you wanted to be with Dao Wen! Because you changed your heart! Because you don’t want me anymore! Didn’t you say you loved my sister deeply? Then why don’t you love her now? Why are all those promises worthless? You are the instigator! You are the one who ruined me! My life is destroyed; I have no face left to live! I want to die; I want to find my dead sister and tell her that Zong Jin has changed his heart and no longer loves her!"
With that, Wu Youyou bit down hard on Zong Jin’s arm. As he recoiled in pain, Zong Zeyu became distracted with concern for him, allowing Wu Youyou to break free.
Wu Youyou jumped onto the windowsill and prepared to leap out. Just as she was about to jump down, Tong Le screamed at the top of her lungs, "Go ahead! If you want to die, then do it quickly! What’s so great about jumping from the second floor? At most you'll just break a bone! Don’t you want to die? I can smash your head with an axe if you'd like!"
With that said, Tong Le pulled out the axe she had carried from work earlier that day. Originally, she hadn’t planned on bringing it with her, but since it belonged to the construction site and she had been scolded by the foreman for taking it without permission, she had no choice but to return it intact.
As Tong Le brandished the axe in front of her, even she found it absurd and helpless; this same axe had been used earlier that day against Hou Yi and now was being wielded in an attempt to persuade Wu Youyou.
Even Zong Zeyu was taken aback; no wonder he had pursued this woman so relentlessly—she was fierce enough not to shy away from carrying an axe around.
Holding the axe firmly, Tong Le shouted at Wu Youyou on the edge of the windowsill once more. "Come on! Kill yourself if that's what you want! If you're so brave, then do it! One swing of this axe could end your life! Earlier today I almost killed Hou Yi with it just to help you seek revenge and uncover the truth! And what about you? Your family is in chaos while everyone is here supporting you—are you really going to give up your life for those few scoundrels? Your sister would feel ashamed for you!"
The room fell silent after her words echoed through it.
Wu Youyou retracted the leg she had extended and stepped down from the windowsill.
Zong Jin hurried forward, grabbing Wu Youyou's arm, determined not to let her go even a step.
Zong Zeyu looked down at the axe in Tong Le's hand, taking a deep breath, his expression somewhat complicated.
