Zong Jin found himself questioning whether he would regret his decisions. However, regret seemed insignificant compared to the current situation; the matters of his heart paled in comparison to Wu Youyou's life. He had failed to take care of Wu Yutong, allowing her to leave this world at such a young age. He could not afford to fail Wu Youyou as well; otherwise, he would have no face left to live on.
Tong Le was still waiting for Zong Jin's response, but he shifted the topic instead. "Have my secretary draft a new version of the agreement. The content remains unchanged; only the partner information will be updated. The Distillery project will proceed as planned, and everything will continue as scheduled."
Tong Le hurriedly interjected, "But Dao Wen just said she’s withdrawing. She won’t be part of this factory anymore."
Zong Jin replied, "The Distillery is a partnership between Dao Wen and me. I hold the majority of shares, so I naturally have the authority and decision-making power. The Distillery will operate as usual, and we will sign the contract as planned. As for Dao Wen, once she calms down, I will discuss it with her. Don’t you want to secure the Distillery project? This project has a long cycle and is stable enough for you to earn the dowry money you desire quickly."
Tong Le hesitated, unsure of how to respond. At that moment, Zong Zeyu spoke up, "Let’s proceed normally. Building the Distillery is Dao Wen’s dream. Since Zong Jin promised her to make this Distillery successful, regardless of whether they can reconcile in the future, Zong Jin must keep his word."
Zong Jin nodded in agreement. "That's right; I won’t go back on my word. I’ll have my secretary draft the agreement again."
Before long, a new contract was placed in front of Tong Le. She hesitated again, but Zong Zeyu took her hand and urged her to sign.
With the Distillery contract secured, it meant that regardless of Dao Wen's willingness, the Distillery would be built on schedule. However, Tong Le worried that with Dao Wen's personality, if she decided not to participate, it might hinder the future development of the Distillery.
Feeling anxious, Tong Le said to Zong Jin, "I’ll go home and talk to Dao Wen later. We need to have a good conversation about this. And what about you? Have you thought it over? I know you care for Wu Youyou, but there are better ways to resolve issues concerning her."
Zong Jin fell silent after that. Once he signed and stamped the document, he stood up and said, "Zeyu, I’m heading home now. Wu Youyou just messaged me saying she isn’t feeling well; I’ll accompany her to the hospital. You can handle everything at the company for now. If any official matters require my presence, just give me a call."
As Zong Jin left the office, Tong Le let out a heavy sigh.
Zong Zeyu moved behind Tong Le and comforted her. "You can proceed with the Distillery collaboration normally. This project will go ahead regardless of whether Dao Wen is involved because it has already been approved in our company meetings."
Tong Le nodded in agreement. "I’ll visit Dao Wen later and avoid discussing her past feelings with Zong Jin for now. We need to keep moving forward with the Distillery; it’s also her dream."
Zong Zeyu offered, "Let me give you a ride."
Tong Le smiled and replied, "No need! I’m not a child anymore. Besides, with Ke Wenjie and Lan Qingqing no longer bothering me and Zhang Huizhi bedridden, I’m quite safe right now. Don’t worry about me."
Meanwhile at the hospital, Ke Wenjie had been making several trips daily over the past few days without knowing why Zhang Huizhi's condition was deteriorating further; even the doctors couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong.
By Zhang Huizhi's bedside, Ke Wenjie was unpacking takeout food since Mo Kai Liang was no longer around to provide personal care. He set the meal on the small table beside the bed and pushed it toward Zhang Huizhi, who was propped up against the headboard with her head tilted to one side and a vacant look in her eyes.
