For two consecutive days, Zong Zeyu stayed at Tong Le's home, and for those two days, Tong Le couldn't step out the door. Zong Zeyu didn't even go to work; he dragged Tong Le along, skipping work together.
Tong Le had her grievances, but in the face of absolute power, she found her resistance futile. During these leisurely days, Zong Zeyu took Tong Le to the supermarket, watched movies, and engaged in the mundane activities of a couple. He learned to enjoy this comfortable lifestyle and thought that if one day he no longer had to be Zong Zong, being Tong Le's husband wouldn't be so bad.
Tong Le was getting increasingly annoyed. Standing in front of the seafood section at the supermarket, she pointed at Zong Zeyu and said, "You need to go back to work at Zong Shi Yan Tuan tomorrow! I have to work too! I've delayed so much for you!"
Zong Zeyu looked at the tank of King Crab and turned to her, "Wife, can you cook King Crab?"
Tong Le felt like smashing Zong Zeyu's head open. "You look like a King Crab yourself!"
Zong Zeyu was about to call a staff member to get a crab when he muttered, "How about we go to Zong Jin's place for lunch today? I can help you cook."
Tong Le pondered for a moment. "Zong Jin's place? He moved out?"
Zong Zeyu replied, "Yes, he moved out. Guess where he went?"
Tong Le shook her head. "How would I know? To which villa area?"
Zong Zeyu gestured to the staff for the biggest crab. "He moved across from Dao Wen's house."
At that moment, at Dao Wen's home, she was contemplating what to eat for lunch while Zhou Zishuo had already dressed and was preparing to head downstairs to the supermarket.
Zhou Zishuo said, "Sister, I'm going to buy some spinach and other vegetables to stir-fry for you. You've been complaining about heat lately."
Dao Wen replied, "I'll go with you. By the way, Zhou Zishuo, don’t come over here all the time during the day. When you have time, check on the progress at the Distillery construction site more often."
Zhou Zishuo put on his shoes and waited by the door. "I go every day. It's not that I don't trust you; I'm just worried you'll keep eating takeout."
Dao Wen saw through him and said, "I think you're worried I'll be dating Zong Jin. You used to come over every day before; now you're here every single day."
Dao Wen casually grabbed a jacket as they both stepped out of the house.
Just then, they noticed their neighbor across the hall was moving out.
Dao Wen politely greeted them, "Sister, are you moving? Did you buy a bigger house?"
The woman from across smiled brightly and replied, "Not at all! A big boss insisted on renting our place because he said our feng shui is good! We didn't want to move; we've lived here for so long and really didn't want to leave. But he insisted on living here and offered a high price. So we thought we might as well change our environment for a fresh perspective."
This was the first time Dao Wen had heard of someone offering a high price just to force the original owner out of their home.
Dao Wen was in high spirits. "What a good deal! How much did they give you?"
The female host looked a bit embarrassed. "Oh, let's not talk about that. We need to continue moving!"
Dao Wen and Zhou Zishuo stepped into the elevator. Dao Wen was excitedly chatting away, "That excuse is so flimsy! They must have struck it rich, and they’re probably worried about what others will say."
Zhou Zishuo was too preoccupied to care about the gossip of their neighbors; his mind was focused on what groceries he needed to buy later.
As Dao Wen and Zhou Zishuo exited the community and crossed the street, just then, Zong Jin's car drove into the neighborhood.
Zong Jin parked in the community lot, and at that moment, his phone rang. It was Wen Cuizhi.
Once the call connected, Wen Cuizhi cheerfully said, "Son, I've arranged everything for you! The family across from Dao Wen is officially moving out today. I've rented their place for you; you can just move right in! I also had driver Xiao Qin prepare a bunch of daily necessities for you. They’ll be moving in one after another soon, and I've also arranged for cleaning staff."
Zong Jin was momentarily taken aback. "Mom, didn’t we agree that I would handle renting myself? You can’t just force someone to move out!"
Wen Cuizhi corrected him, "What are you talking about? They’re moving out willingly! I just offered them a higher price. It’s all business; it’s about mutual consent—whoever offers more gets it! So if I pay and they happily move out, where’s the problem?"
Zong Jin sighed in resignation. "I see now; all those clever tricks of the second child come from you."
Wen Cuizhi laughed, "You just realized that? That upright but dull personality of yours comes from your dad!"
Zong Jin chuckled, "Thanks, Mom. I’ll do my best."
Wen Cuizhi reassured him, "Don’t worry about things at home; I’ll be here with Wu Youyou. Once she’s fully recovered, you can come back."
After hanging up the phone, Zong Jin got out of the car and headed upstairs.
Most of the belongings from the previous residents had already been moved out. The layout of the house was similar to Dao Wen's—very cozy.
Soon enough, people sent by Wen Cuizhi began arriving one after another to move furniture and tidy up the place.
