In the boxing gym, Hou Yi coaxed Wu Youyou out of her house. She hadn't stepped outside for days, and the sight of strangers made her instinctively shrink behind him. She felt as though everyone in the world recognized her face and knew about the embarrassing incident she had just gone through.
Hou Yi tried to pull her closer, but it was no use. He reassured her, "No one here knows you, and no one cares about what happened. If I lived my life according to your standards, I might as well be dead. You probably haven't heard what people say about me; if even a fraction of that were directed at you, you'd want to jump off a building."
Wu Youyou lowered her head. "It's different for me. I'm not like you. Men and women are treated differently in this society; the expectations for women are always harsher."
Hou Yi stopped walking and looked at her, who dared not meet his gaze. "If you live in the mouths of others, you'll surely die in their mouths."
Wu Youyou found some truth in his words. Slowly, she raised her head. Hou Yi, tired of talking, grabbed her wrist and led her into the boxing gym. Fully equipped, no one knew who Wu Youyou was anymore.
On that day, Hou Yi didn’t step onto the ring himself; instead, he called a few of his underlings to entertain Wu Youyou, having instructed them beforehand to be gentle with her.
Standing by the ring, Hou Yi snapped a few photos and sent them to Tong Le. "Look who I brought out! All for you—what's my reward?"
Tong Le replied, "Your reward is that I won’t insult you for the next week."
Hou Yi recalled something. "A friend told me he received an invitation from Zong Group. I didn’t get one; can you get me one?"
Tong Le responded, "What do you think you can do? A small-time thug like you isn't focused on work; how would you meet pretty girls? I won’t give you a chance—I’m afraid you'll ruin things."
Hou Yi promised, "I guarantee I won't mess around. My best friend Winston is attending; I want to see him too. I could sneak in with him, but it’s more appropriate to have an invitation since I’m somewhat of a notable figure."
Tong Le said, "It’s surprising to hear you use the word 'appropriate.' I'll tell Zeyu to get you an invitation, but remember: no causing trouble, no flirting with girls, and no stirring up issues."
Hou Yi replied, "Don’t worry; I won’t do anything. You go ahead with your dinner; I won’t disturb you."
Tong Le asked, "How did you know I was having dinner? Are you stalking me?"
Hou Yi smirked. "I have eyes everywhere around you. Did you think you could escape my watchful gaze?"
After sending the message, Hou Yi turned off his phone with a satisfied smile. He knew where Tong Le was and who she was with; he was always curious about everything concerning her. So he couldn't resist sending a few of his underlings to keep an eye on her.
When Wu Youyou finished a round and stepped down from the ring, Hou Yi tossed her a bottle of energy drink and asked, "Feeling better?"
A rare smile appeared on Wu Youyou's face as she replied enthusiastically, "Yes! It’s relieving and comfortable!"
She picked up her phone and mumbled to herself, "I’ll call Zong Jin and ask him to come over and spar with me."
Hou Yi casually remarked, "Zong Jin is having dinner with Wen, so you should leave them alone."
Wu Youyou paused.
Realizing he had spoken out of turn, Hou Yi's nature compelled him to speak frankly; black was black, and white was white. He continued, "Zong Jin likes Wen, and there's nothing you can do to stop that. I've heard enough about the Zong family matters. Honestly, one should be a bit more carefree in life; otherwise..."
Before he could finish, Wu Youyou threw down her gloves and stormed off. She was determined to confront Zong Jin!
Hou Yi grabbed her by the arm. Wu Youyou struggled wildly, pounding on his solid arm as she shouted, "Let me go! I need to find him! He promised me he would never marry! He promised he wouldn't be with Wen! Why did he lie to me? Why?"
Hou Yi exerted just enough force to pin Wu Youyou to the ground, rendering her unable to escape despite her frantic attempts.
His patience was wearing thin. It was unreasonable for someone like him to accompany a woman for her amusement while also acting as her punching bag. He had reached his limit of tolerance. If it weren't for the promise he made to Tong Le, he wouldn't be putting himself through this nonsense.
He simply didn't want Tong Le to be disappointed in him.
Suddenly, Hou Yi's expression turned cold, and his good-natured demeanor vanished. His chilling tone immediately silenced Wu Youyou.
"If you want to see Zong Jin alive, you need to keep quiet."
