In the face of absolute temptation, what reason, what unmarried purity, what love and morality—all are but fleeting illusions! Even the most virtuous man cannot withstand the allure of his beloved woman!
Zong Jin was ensnared, not just ensnared; the desire that had been pent up in his heart was about to burst forth. He pulled Wen along as they hurried back, his pace so swift it seemed he could hardly wait to resolve everything right there.
Wen laughed at the situation, forced to jog behind Zong Jin as he tugged at her wrist with enough force to elicit her complaints. "Slow down! It hurts!"
Zong Jin couldn't care less; reason had already fled him. What did it matter if it hurt? He would soothe her later!
They raced up the stairs and reached the entrance, only to be met with an awkward scene. Zhou Zishuo was standing in the hallway, clutching his pillow and blanket, just as both their doors stood wide open. Zong Jin had forgotten to close the door before leaving, but it was understandable; after living in a large house with a private courtyard for so long, he had lost the habit of closing doors behind him.
Seeing the two of them breathless and flushed, Zhou Zishuo felt a pang of jealousy. He spoke up, "Sister, I'm going to sleep with Zong Boss tonight. After all, you have someone now, and it wouldn’t be convenient for me to stay in the same room as you. So I thought about it and decided I’d stay with Zong Boss."
He turned to Zong Jin and asked for his approval. "Zong Boss, you don’t mind, do you? I can take the guest room; I see that the cleaning staff has tidied up already. I have my own pillow and blanket."
A bucket of cold water seemed to pour over Zong Jin’s head and trickle down to his toes. He understood what it meant to experience both heaven and hell; life’s ups and downs didn’t need such a stark contrast!
Zong Jin hesitated but knew that letting Zhou Zishuo stay at Wen's place was unreasonable and would also affect his image.
Feeling awkward, he finally managed to say, "Sure."
Zhou Zishuo headed straight for Zong Jin's home and began gathering his things without a care.
Zong Jin glanced back at Wen, who was laughing heartily. She released his hand and gently patted his shoulder. "See you tomorrow."
The next morning came early.
Zhou Zishuo opened his eyes at six-thirty, awakened by noise coming from the living room.
Squinting, he stepped out of his bedroom and saw that the table in the living room was already laid out with various breakfast items. The ceramic bowls were covered with plastic wrap—definitely not takeout but something specially prepared in the Zong family kitchen.
The source of the noise was none other than Zong Jin, who was working out.
With a frown on his face, Zhou Zishuo couldn’t believe that just yesterday their home had been empty; now it was filled with gym equipment he hadn’t even noticed when it had arrived.
Zong Jin was sweating profusely in the living room, wearing a fitted dark t-shirt that accentuated his physique and loose shorts as he practiced push-ups.
Clearing his throat, Zhou Zishuo remarked sarcastically, "You're working out this early? Don’t you ever get tired?"
Zong Jin stood up and wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Call your sister over for breakfast; I don’t know if she’s awake yet."
Zhou Zishuo felt drowsy as he squinted at him. "You go knock on her door; I haven’t gotten enough sleep yet!"
Zhou Zishuo turned back to the bedroom, reminding, "Keep it down! Don't disturb my sleep! You have the biological clock of an old person, but I don't!"
Zong Jin went to the door across the hall and knocked carefully.
Wen, brushing her teeth, opened the door. Having just washed her face and with no makeup on, she casually captivated Zong Jin completely.
Zong Jin's face flushed, and his heart raced as he suddenly didn't know how to start a conversation.
Wen looked at Zong Jin in his sportswear and bluntly said, "Are you afraid I'll test your skills in bed? Starting to cram for it?"
Zong Jin hurriedly explained, "No, no, no! It's not like that! I—"
Wen interrupted him, "Come in."
Zong Jin followed Wen into the room and obediently stood at the bathroom door while she finished brushing her teeth.
As Wen applied her skincare products, she asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"
