The next day, Ke Jie went to the hospital for a comprehensive check-up, from head to toe. Since Ying Rong Xiao had arranged the examination, he naturally received VIP treatment. A dedicated staff member guided him through every step, allowing him to skip all queues and providing exceptionally attentive service.

On the other end was Lan Qingqing’s voice. “Transfer next month’s maternity allowance to me; I need it for check-ups and to book a confinement center. I also have to buy many things for the baby. Ten thousand a month isn’t enough! You should send twenty thousand each month since booking the confinement center is expensive.”
Ke Jie found her claims ridiculous. “What confinement center costs twenty thousand? My mom didn’t spend a dime when she gave birth to me! Are you giving birth to some deity? Twenty thousand a month? Did your mother spend twenty thousand when she had you? And look what came out—a disaster!”
Lan Qingqing shouted back, “Ke Jie! I haven’t done anything to you! Why are you taking it out on me? The prices for confinement centers are what they are! Your mother didn’t have Ying Qian because you’re just unlucky! If you think your child will inherit your bad luck, then don’t send any money! I’ll just get rid of this child!”
