Zong Jin spoke up, asking if Zhou Feng's departure from Dao Wen was for a national mission. Tong Le replied affirmatively, acknowledging that Zhou Feng was also caught in circumstances beyond his control. She wanted to convey that regardless of whether Zhou Feng returned or not, Zong Jin should pursue the feelings he deserved and not give up.
After saying this, Tong Le took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. She walked straight past Zong Jin, hoping he would strive for success. Upon returning to the main hall, she searched for Zong Zeyu but instead encountered someone who made her stomach churn—Ke Wenjie.
Ke Wenjie was dressed in an expensive suit, looking quite presentable, but Tong Le wondered how he had managed to get in since he certainly wasn't on the guest list. Not wanting to cause a scene, she attempted to ignore him, but Ke Wenjie approached her directly, deliberately provoking her.
"Why didn't you greet me? Do you think my presence here is inappropriate?" he taunted.
Tong Le suppressed her discomfort as she faced Ke Wenjie, finding him utterly repulsive. With his bow tie and gold-rimmed glasses, he resembled a grotesque pervert.
With a forced smile, she shot back, "You know you shouldn't be here? Who did you mooch an invitation from to sneak in?"
Ke Wenjie twitched his lips; after a few days apart, he noted that Tong Le's insults had become sharper. Eager to boast, he declared, "I’ve started my own company and will soon make a comeback. Looking back now, my stagnation was all because of Tongshan Real Estate."
Tong Le laughed mockingly, "Yes, that prime piece of real estate allowed you to live comfortably for so long without landing in prison—thanks to Tongshan Real Estate shielding you. Now that they no longer want you, it’s no surprise you’ll quickly multiply and expand. After all, while good companies need three to five years to nurture their future, you’re like a filthy cockroach that can breed in just three days. Of course, you'll make a swift return only to end up behind bars!"
With that, Tong Le turned to leave. Ke Wenjie was furious but restrained himself; considering they were at the Zong Family's event, he couldn't afford to lose his temper.
After Tong Le walked away, Ke Wenjie felt a headache coming on. Nearby, Hua Rongxiao approached him in a black dress with a glass of wine in hand and mocked him, "Look at you getting scolded without even a chance to retort. That girl is quite ruthless! However, her personality is quite different from what you and I described."
Ke Wenjie gritted his teeth in anger. "She’s gotten herself a wealthy man and has become shameless!"
Hua Rongxiao replied dismissively, "Enough of that; let’s not stoop to her level. I’ll introduce you to some big bosses."
Meanwhile, Tong Le moved to a corner of the crowd and called over Zong Zeyu and his female secretary. Turning back towards Ke Wenjie’s direction, she instructed the secretary to investigate how Ke Wenjie had managed to get in and who the woman in the black dress beside him was.
