The Annual Meeting proceeded as usual, smoothly.
With Zong Jin's heart focused on Wen, and Zong Shi Yan Tuan unable to be absent, Zong Zeyu had no choice but to take on the facade, busying himself with meetings with some prominent figures. Tong Le felt it inappropriate to interrupt and busied himself with handling some trivial matters.
Halfway through the Annual Meeting, Jin Zi Meng, having changed into her outfit, approached Tong Le and became his little assistant.
Before long, Zong Zeyu's Female Secretary came over to report to Tong Le. From her, Tong Le learned about Ke Wenjie and Ying Rong Xiao's identities, as well as the industry Ying Rong Xiao was involved in. He also discovered that she had recently married Wan Zhang, who was over ten years her senior.
It was quite intriguing; both the characters and events seemed fascinating yet somewhat illogical. The most perplexing aspect was the relationship between Ke Wenjie and Ying Rong Xiao. Since Tong Le had known Ke Wenjie, he had never heard of Ying Rong Xiao and had no idea how Ke Wenjie had gotten involved with such a wealthy woman. From their recent interaction, it certainly did not seem like they were merely new acquaintances.
Tong Le whispered to the Female Secretary, "Can you check again on the companies under Ke Wenjie’s name? See if Ying Rong Xiao invested in any of them."
After the Female Secretary left, Jin Zi Meng took the opportunity to switch Tong Le's drink. "Sister," she said with a hint of mischief, "don’t drink this; it’s just tea and juice. I’ll help you fend off the alcohol later. You promised to take me to meet the big boss."
Tong Le recalled, "Right, I did promise to introduce you to a few big bosses."
He then took Jin Zi Meng around to meet several media company owners, leaving behind business cards and making brief introductions. The goal was to help Jin Zi Meng expand her professional opportunities and choices. Of course, Tong Le’s actions were not purely altruistic; he aimed to extract useful information from both Jin Zi Meng and Jin Feng.
When it came time for a toast with Boss Cai from the film company, Tong Le made a strong recommendation for Jin Zi Meng. Boss Cai was highly intelligent and aware of Tong Le's relationship with Zong Zeyu; he understood Tong Le's intentions behind this introduction. After downing half a glass of wine, he graciously acknowledged, "I remember Miss Jin’s resume! You sent it to me specifically; I said back then that this girl has potential and should be nurtured!"
Jin Zi Meng grew increasingly excited upon hearing this and immediately moved to propose a toast.
After this round of introductions, Jin Zi Meng felt as if she had one foot already in the entertainment industry. She was thrilled; her long-held dream seemed just a step away from realization. Thanks to Tong Le's connections, she would never have gotten such an opportunity otherwise.
As Jin Zi Meng was chatting animatedly with Tong Le, Winston approached her and handed over a business card. "Hello, I’m Winston. Do you have any friends in the industry?"
Jin Zi Meng sized him up and instinctively asked, "Which film company are you with?"
Winston hesitated; he wasn’t affiliated with any film company—he simply wanted to get to know Jin Zi Meng.
Suddenly, someone snatched the business card from Winston’s hand and shoved it directly into Jin Zi Meng’s palm—it was Hou Yi.
Hou Yi straightforwardly told Jin Zi Meng that Winston wanted to get acquainted with her; she could interpret it as interest.
Instantly, Winston’s face turned beet red, almost steaming.
Tong Le shot Hou Yi a glare. He wasn’t sure why Winston seemed familiar when alone but felt that once Hou Yi got involved, they both appeared untrustworthy.
However, Tong Le had just learned that Winston was actually Wan Zhang’s relative—the same person who was Ying Rong Xiao’s husband.
Tong Le opened his mouth, "Are you Mr. Wan Zhang Wan?"
Winston nodded.
Tong Le continued, "Then what about Ying Rong Xiao and the person next to her, Ke Wenjie?"
Winston turned to look in Ying Rong Xiao's direction. He naturally recognized her, but he was not familiar with Ke Wenjie.
He had never acknowledged the relationship between him and Ying Rong Xiao, so he hadn't thought about greeting her. After all, their relationship felt a bit strange.
Hou Yi was quite interested; he noticed how close Ying Rong Xiao and Ke Wenjie seemed to be. He spoke candidly, "Those two have probably slept together, right? They don't look like just colleagues."
Winston's face darkened. Although Hou Yi's words were blunt, there was indeed a possibility.
Hou Yi's gaze returned to Tong Le. He gestured towards him and glanced outside at Xiao Zhi Yuan.
Tong Le allowed Jin Zi Meng to move freely. She followed Hou Yi out to Xiao Zhi Yuan.
Tong Le spoke up, "Is there some information? If you just want to chat, I don't have time."
Hou Yi had expected Tong Le to say something like that. However, he did recall some other clues that had just come to mind.
Tong Le waited quietly, "Why aren't you speaking?"
Hou Yi said directly, "I think you don't need to help Wen investigate that Zhou Feng anymore. I just remembered that Zhou Feng seems to have a wife. His wife is a local from that country, and they apparently have a son who feels like he was just born not long ago. But I'm not entirely sure."
