At night, in the district, Tong Le chose a restaurant near the hotel. It was a local specialty place, somewhat like a bustling food stall, filled with energy. She opted not to meet Zhou Feng at a high-end restaurant because of Wen's request.
Wen still wasn't prepared to meet Zhou Feng. She wanted to hide at a nearby table and see what Zhou Feng had become. Hou Yi arrived at the restaurant early, heading straight for Wen and Tong Le. He took a seat and ordered an iced drink.
Hou Yi scanned the surroundings but only saw bodyguards; he didn't spot the Zong Family Brothers. Where were those two protectors? Weren't they supposed to be inseparable?
Tong Le pointed upstairs, explaining that something had come up on the domestic side, and the two were having a video conference upstairs. She glanced at her phone; there were still fifteen minutes left. Zhou Feng wouldn’t bail on them, would he?
Next to Tong Le's table, the wooden railing overlooked a lively street where vendors shouted to sell their goods and drinks. Hou Yi reminded her that Zhou Feng was coming with his wife and had just sent him a message about it.
Immediately, Wen stood up and headed toward a few tables behind them, quickly pulling out a mask from her pocket to cover half her face.
Hou Yi couldn't help but chuckle at Wen's timidness and teased Tong Le, asking why she was so scared of men when she was usually so capable. She wasn't a mistress; why act like this?
Tong Le shot him a glare, questioning what nonsense he was talking about. She then asked why Zhou Feng had brought his wife along. Was it because she didn’t want him to know about the past?
Hou Yi shook his head while holding his iced drink. "No, his wife is out shopping right now, so they just happened to come together. Zhou Feng's wife has a good personality and is quite understanding. She's supportive of him seeking memories from the past. Besides, they already have kids; what’s there to be afraid of? Their relationship is solid; just the other day when I chatted with him, he mentioned wanting two more kids because one son feels too lonely."
Hou Yi glanced behind Tong Le, noticing Wen quietly poking at her drink with a straw. He suggested that during dinner, she should just take a quick look at Zhou Feng to settle her thoughts. After all, he might not even remember her anymore; there was no need to disrupt his normal married life. Moreover, Zhou Feng had his own new identity now; if it came down to it, anyone would choose to stay where they were.
Tong Le remained silent for a moment, but then caught sight of two figures—Zhou Feng and his wife—approaching. She quickly stood up to greet them while Wen watched silently from several tables away.
The meal went relatively smoothly; Tong Le answered Zhou Feng’s questions quite fluently. She only briefly mentioned Wen while talking about Zhou Zishuo and Zhou Ting, saying that she would pass this information along to their siblings back home and let them come here for an in-person meeting with Zhou Feng.
During this time, Hou Yi took the opportunity to chat about mutual acquaintances. Just then, Tong Le received a message from Wen: If he asks about me again, just brush it off and say I’m married now.
Tong Le replied: "Don’t you really want to talk to him face-to-face? Maybe it could jog his memory."
