Tong Le remembered that she needed to send a message to Jin Zi Meng to check on her. Jin had been emotionally unstable these past few days, so she had asked Jiang Zhichao from her company to pay more attention to her. However, Jiang hadn’t messaged her today.
Tong Le called Jin Zi Meng, but there was no answer. She then sent a message to Jiang Zhichao, who quickly replied with a voice message: “Sorry, Sister Tong! I’ve been busy with work all day. Since you’re not in the office and have given me more authority, I’ve had to handle everything myself. Don’t worry, Jin Zi Meng is fine; she came to the office as usual today. However, she left in the afternoon to meet someone from the Film Company for dinner. Her mood seems okay now. Maybe heaven is looking out for her and giving her more opportunities in her career.”
Jiang Zhichao sent another message: “Sister, everyone at the company really recognizes my abilities now. Thank you for giving me this chance to show what I can do.”
Tong Le felt somewhat relieved. “Your abilities have always been recognized by everyone; it’s just that in the past, under Ke Wenjie’s leadership, outstanding individuals often got overlooked. I just called Jin Zi Meng, but she didn’t answer. It’s good that the Film Company is interested in her for auditions, but please send her a message later to confirm that she’s safe because I’m still a bit worried.”
Jiang Zhichao immediately replied, “Don’t worry, Sister! I will!”
Meanwhile, at a hotel.
In a luxurious private room filled with drinking and singing, two large round tables were set up along with independent karaoke equipment and a massive audio-visual wall. The gathering consisted of big bosses from various Film Companies and their partners.
Jin Zi Meng felt out of place here.
A young man in a black vest approached her with a drink. Perhaps the vest highlighted his features; he exuded a bit of a small director vibe, but his voice carried a hint of effeminacy.
The man handed over his business card and introduced himself: “Hello, Miss Jin! My name is Li Feng, and I’m the producer for this film project. I’ve heard great things about you; you’re an exceptionally talented newcomer actress. You performed brilliantly during your audition, and our investors are very fond of you!”
Jin Zi Meng quickly stood up to toast him. “Hello, sir! You flatter me.”
She didn’t know Li Feng at all and hadn’t heard of him before; she only knew that Tong Le had introduced her to a big boss named Cai. She guessed that Li Feng might be acquainted with Boss Cai as well.
Li Feng was very polite and invited her, “Would you like me to introduce you to our boss? The casting has pretty much been finalized with you as our female lead.”
Jin Zi Meng was taken aback. “I’m the female lead? I thought I was just the third female supporting role! Besides, I’m a newcomer; how can I take on such an important role?”
Li Feng smiled and said, “Why not? You have such great talent; you’re beautiful and photogenic. You’re the perfect fit for this character! The investors are very optimistic about you! Of course, it’s also because our leader strongly recommended you behind the scenes that we have come to this conclusion! Our leader has a knack for promoting new talent! You see how many old faces there are in the entertainment industry? The audience is tired of seeing them!”
Jin Zi Meng felt like she had struck gold with this good news; it lifted her spirits after days of feeling down. Surely Tong Le was watching over her from above and blessing her.
Li Feng invited again, “Shall we go meet our investor, Boss Zong?”
Jin Zi Meng was surprised. “Boss Zong? The investor’s boss is named Zong? Is he from Zong Group?”
Li Feng nodded repeatedly. “Yes! Zong Caishan—Boss Zong—is actually the younger brother of the founder of Zong Group. You should know about him; he’s quite famous in the film industry! Recently, many popular TV dramas and movies have received investment from Boss Zong!”
Jin Zi Meng felt excited; she hadn’t even heard about this! Moreover, Tong Le hadn’t mentioned it either. It seemed that getting selected for this film project meant that the investor was from the Zong Family!
She thought that surely either Tong Le or someone from the Zong Family had helped her behind the scenes and smoothed out connections so that she could secure this leading role! Otherwise, how could an inexperienced newcomer like her have such good luck?
Jin Zi Meng hurriedly said, “Then please take me to meet Boss Zong so I can thank him in person!”
Li Feng quickly replied, "Of course, please follow me."
He led the way beside Jin Zi Meng, his eyes filled with curiosity as he observed her beautifully sculpted figure. He couldn't help but imagine what this pure and enchanting beauty would eventually become once she was tamed.
A sly smile crept across his face as he thought to himself that once Zong Caishan grew tired of her, he could certainly take his turn to savor the prize. After all, it was a free gift delivered right to his doorstep, and such a prize was always the easiest to coax and deceive.
