Lan Qingqing gripped the doorknob tightly, her forehead veins bulging. She truly couldn’t understand where Ke Wenjie derived such authority or connections to take over Winston Company. Could it be that Ke Wenjie was Wan Zhang's illegitimate child?
She immediately dismissed that thought; it was clear that Ke Wenjie had driven her mad, allowing all sorts of bizarre ideas to surface.
After leaving the company, Lan Qingqing felt defeated while Ke Wenjie reveled in victory. He was thrilled to see Lan Qingqing silenced; it was exactly the scene he had hoped for.
Manager Ren continued reporting work updates to Ke Wenjie. Tapping his fingers on the desk, he suddenly remembered, "You should notify the heads of each department to hold a meeting shortly; I have something to discuss regarding Xiang Dai."
Lan Qingqing took a taxi and spent the entire ride fuming with anger. She couldn’t figure out where Ke Wenjie had acquired such connections. After much contemplation, she decided to seek help from Hou Yi. After all, Hou Yi was a friend of Winston and should know something.
She went directly to Hou Yi's company and waited for over two hours until he returned from his drive.
As soon as Lan Qingqing spotted Hou Yi’s car, she rushed over.
Hou Yi parked and got out of the car but didn’t recognize Lan Qingqing at first glance.

She tucked her long hair behind her ear and suggested shyly, "Brother, why don’t we talk at your company?"
Hou Yi hesitated; he didn’t want to bring such an unusual person into his workplace. He also didn’t want to shatter Lan Qingqing’s misplaced confidence—she looked quite ugly despite believing herself beautiful.
Holding his car keys, he gestured for them to either chat in the car or right there where they stood.
Lan Qingqing got into the car, taking a moment to check her makeup in the small mirror, ensuring she looked perfect.
Hou Yi, lacking patience, said, "Spit it out. You have ten minutes; I have other things to do."
Lan Qingqing leaned closer to Hou Yi, adopting a slightly frantic demeanor. "Have you heard? Ke Wenjie has taken over Winston's company. How did he manage that? What connections does he have? You and Winston are friends; could it be that Winston's father knows Ke Wenjie?"
Hou Yi rolled down the window and took a drag from his cigarette, responding succinctly, "Ke Wenjie is backed by Hua Rongxiao. Hua Rongxiao is Wan Zhang's new wife, and Wan Zhang is close to Winston. Got it?"
