As Lan Qingqing carefully pieced together the relationships involved, she repeated Ying Rong Xiao's name twice in her mind. Suddenly, a chill ran down her spine. Ying Rong Xiao's cosmetic surgery clinic? Zheng Jie? Ke Wenjie? What did they all have to do with her?
Hou Yi, halfway through his cigarette, asked if there was still a problem. Lan Qingqing grabbed his arm, panic evident in her voice. "Brother, what is going on? She was terrified, feeling a sharp pain in her abdomen. Hou Yi tossed the cigarette butt out of the car window and turned to her. "Relationships between men and women are usually just a few types—on the bed or off it. Can't you investigate for yourself?"
Suddenly, he recalled something. "I heard you had a premature birth recently and gave birth to an abnormal baby?"
Lan Qingqing felt embarrassed and didn’t respond.
Hou Yi continued deliberately, "I heard about a medical accident where a patient was sedated and taken into surgery for what was supposed to be a minor procedure. After the surgery, their health deteriorated rapidly as if they were drained of life. Guess what happened next?"
Lan Qingqing shook her head, confused. "What happened?"
Hou Yi laughed heartily. "That unethical doctor stole one of the patient's healthy kidneys during the operation! Can you believe that?"
Upon hearing this, Lan Qingqing felt a tightening sensation in her body. She suddenly realized that she felt as if she had been drained too. Instinctively, she touched the area where her kidneys were located and began to panic.
As Hou Yi spoke again, she completely missed his words.
"Could you repeat that?" she asked, her eyes vacant.
"Nothing important," he replied. "Get out of the car; I have things to do."
She exited the vehicle and watched as Hou Yi entered the office building. Standing there, she felt cold sweat and hot sweat alternating on her body in waves. Dizziness overwhelmed her as various pieces of information bombarded her mind, leaving her in anguish and despair.
Her thoughts were consumed by Ying Rong Xiao and Ke Wenjie, recalling how Ying Rong Xiao had spoken to her before the surgery—almost as if it were a trap specifically set for her, and she had eagerly jumped into it.
Now she understood why Ke Wenjie could take over Wans Company; she also understood why Ying Rong Xiao offered her that so-called free cosmetic procedure at such a critical moment and made her sign those liability waivers; she realized that giving birth to a two-headed monster wasn’t without reason.
In a daze, she felt lightheaded, beginning to doubt whether she was missing certain organs from her own body.
At that moment, through her blurred vision, she spotted a figure approaching. As she focused, she recognized Wu Youyou.
Wu Youyou had arrived just minutes earlier with intentions of discussing matters with Hou Yi but had unexpectedly run into Lan Qingqing instead.
She looked Lan Qingqing up and down with disdain. "What an ugly face! I really don’t understand why you would want to look like this."
Finally snapping back to reality, Lan Qingqing was caught off guard when a vicious slap landed on her face, leaving it burning with pain.
Lan Qingqing covered her face and shouted at Wu Youyou, "What are you doing!"
Wu Youyou chuckled, slightly surprised. "Your fighting spirit is so weak right now, Lan Qingqing. Why do you look like you just woke up? I heard you gave birth to a two-headed monster. Tell me, is this your retribution?"
Leaning closer to Lan Qingqing's ear, Wu Youyou said playfully, "I don't have time to play with you today, but we'll settle our scores slowly!"
