Tong Le had contemplated why Lan Qingqing had come, considering many reasons, but she never imagined that Lan Qingqing was there for Ke Wenjie.
Lan Qingqing's demeanor seemed casual, as if to say, "I'm here to help you. Don't you absolutely despise Ke Wenjie? You sent his father to prison; surely you want to send him there too? Otherwise, why would Jin Feng be dead? I suspect it’s largely because that loose-lipped Jin Feng held evidence that could be fatal for Ke Wenjie, which led to this tragedy."
Lan Qingqing smiled, her tone naturally condescending. "Having one more ally like me would be very beneficial for you. Besides, my past relationship with Ke Wenjie was quite significant. If I stand by your side and help you deal with him, he will surely collapse in no time."
She looked into Tong Le's eyes and asked, "So, what do you think? Are you interested?"
Tong Le was indeed intrigued but understood that Lan Qingqing was trying to force herself into the narrative. The way she spoke made it sound as if Tong Le would be invincible with Lan Qingqing's assistance.
Tong Le wanted to laugh but decided not to undermine Lan Qingqing's performance just yet. "What made you suddenly want to say all this? Did you have a falling out with Ke Wenjie? After all, I thought you’d be the happiest person after my divorce from him."
Lan Qingqing's expression turned slightly awkward as she feigned indifference. "Let’s not dwell on the past; it doesn’t matter anymore. I’m here to help you. If you're willing, we can form an alliance against Ke Wenjie. If not, just pretend I never said anything."
She emphasized, "I know a lot about Ke Wenjie, including his dirty little secrets. So think carefully."
Tong Le smiled and asked, "And how do you plan to help me? Can you give me an example?"
Lan Qingqing blinked; she hadn’t really thought that far ahead. She was simply frustrated after being toyed with by Ke Wenjie, Hua Rongxiao, and Du Guangwei. Now her health was deteriorating, her future ruined—she felt she had lost everything.
Tong Le prompted her again, "You mentioned knowing many of Ke Wenjie's secrets. For instance?"
Clearing her throat, Lan Qingqing realized she needed to show some sincerity; mere words wouldn’t convince Tong Le.
She teased a bit before revealing, "There’s a mysterious big shot behind Ke Wenjie who has always been supporting him—something you probably don’t know."
"Is it Hua Rongxiao?" Tong Le interjected.
Lan Qingqing shot her a glare before changing her tune. "Ke Wenjie has also started his own new company."
"Logistics and transportation company," Tong Le added. "It's funded and backed by Hua Rongxiao's resources and connections."
Lan Qingqing gasped, "How do you know everything?"
Tong Le chuckled lightly. "I know many things you're unaware of. Therefore, I don’t see you as coming to help me; rather, it seems like you're seeking my assistance."
Lan Qingqing felt humiliated; all her chatter had turned into a joke in Tong Le's eyes. Anger bubbled within her—she was already fed up with the situation and now had to endure this humiliation too.
Looking at Lan Qingqing's defeated expression, Tong Le said, "If you want to ally with me, that's fine. But don’t act like I need you desperately. You should know very well whether I need your help right now or not. I also understand why you hate Ke Wenjie so much; relationships between people are merely guided by mutual benefit. Your rise to where you are today is also largely due to him."
