In an instant, the information bombardment left Tong Le questioning. She didn’t respond immediately; instead, she asked a few key questions before letting Mo Kai Liang wait for her response. Tong Le didn’t trust Mo Kai Liang. Rather than doubting him, she felt it was more likely that Lan Qingqing was playing a prank. After all, she couldn’t connect Wan Zhang’s death, Lan Qingqing’s alleged murder, and Hua Rongxiao’s police report all at once. It just felt off.
Tong Le wasn’t in a hurry; after all, it wasn’t her problem. Even if it were true, she didn’t feel particularly inclined to save Lan Qingqing—after all, one hand alone cannot make a sound.
She pulled out a chair and sat in the corner. The dining table was still lively, and when Zong Zeyu saw Tong Le fiddling with her phone in the corner, he speared a piece of fruit with a small fork and approached her. He fed the fruit to her while taking a seat beside her.
As Tong Le operated her phone, she said, “Mo Kai Liang called me and said Hua Rongxiao is framing Lan Qingqing by accusing her of killing Wan Zhang. It sounds too far-fetched to me; I think it’s not very credible. I’ll ask someone I know.”
Zong Zeyu thought for a moment and replied, “I have a friend who knows Wan Zhang; I can ask him.”
Tong Le raised her phone and said, “No need. I’ve already asked Hou Yi. He was best friends with Vance and probably knows some people from Wan Jia.”
Just then, Tong Le’s phone vibrated twice. She quickly checked the message—Hou Yi had replied. As she stared at the screen, she gasped in surprise and looked up. “Wan Zhang is really dead.”
This time, Zong Zeyu frowned; he didn’t believe Mo Kai Liang’s claims either, especially regarding Wan Zhang being killed by Lan Qingqing. He made a call to a contact and confirmed the news within two minutes. It was indeed a murder case—the police had gone to Wan Zhang’s villa, and the situation was quite serious.
At this moment, Tong Le realized the gravity of the situation. She found herself leaning towards believing Mo Kai Liang; after all, Lan Qingqing had no motive to kill Wan Zhang. On the contrary, Hua Rongxiao had both motive for murder and a reason to slander someone.
Tong Le said, “Once they’ve had enough to drink, could you arrange for the driver to take Jin Zi Meng and Tian Ling home separately? They’re both single women, and I’m worried about them. The others have someone to take them home; I’m not concerned about that.”
Zong Zeyu nodded in agreement. “Are you going to deal with Lan Qingqing tonight?”
Tong Le nodded. “I’ll go find Mo Kai Liang for a meeting later. Also, I need you to help me contact a good lawyer. Since Lan Qingqing has been taken by the police, no one can see her; I’ll have to rely on a lawyer.”
Zong Zeyu replied, “Okay, I’ll handle it. Let’s keep this from them for now so we don’t dampen everyone’s spirits.”
Tong Le stood up and walked out into the corridor outside the private room to return Mo Kai Liang’s call.
“Tong Le! Are you okay? Where are you? I’ll come pick you up! This is definitely Hua Rongxiao trying to frame Lan Qingqing! I know it sounds rude for me to plead like this, but Lan Qingqing and I can’t compete with Hua Rongxiao! And we can’t compete with Ke Wenjie either! Hua Rongxiao and Ke Wenjie are in cahoots! Mo Kai Liang replied excitedly, “I don’t have evidence related to the Ge Miao Body Dump Case itself, but I have other evidence related to this matter! Aren’t you trying to deal with Ke Wenjie? I can help you!”
Tong Le hadn’t expected such an unexpected turn of events. “Calm down first. I’ve contacted the best lawyer for you. Once my dinner is over, we can meet up. The lawyer will reach out to you first; make sure you explain everything you know clearly.”
"Mo Kai Liang, you should speak up! As long as you are willing to help me and Lan Qingqing, I can do anything for you! You can even let me kill Ke Wenjie and Hua Rongxiao!"
Tong Le couldn't believe such grandiose claims, especially coming from Mo Kai Liang and Lan Qingqing.
