Lan Qingqing had just confessed, and within less than an hour, Tong Le received the news. At that moment, Tong Le was at Tongshan Real Estate Company when Wu Youyou took advantage of a break to visit him, bringing along a painting.

Tong Le replied, "Not quite. I just found out that Lan Qingqing has confessed. She admitted to drugging your drink and revealed who she bought the drugs from."
Suddenly standing up with excitement in her eyes, Wu Youyou asked, "Really? Does that mean she’s going to jail? Why did she suddenly confess? Was it because you found crucial evidence?"
Tong Le shook his head. "There’s still bad news following that."
He explained, "Lan Qingqing's confession came after I hired a lawyer to negotiate with her under threat. Hua Rongxiao has pushed her into a corner; in such extreme circumstances, only we can help her out. So as part of the deal, I made her admit to her wrongdoing against you and disclose the source of the illegal drugs as a way to make amends. She agreed."
Wu Youyou's smile faded gradually. "So what you’re saying is that Lan Qingqing confessed, but because she voluntarily disclosed the source of the drugs and can assist the police in uncovering the drug trafficking network, she might avoid jail time?"
Her displeasure was evident as she continued, "So she doesn’t have to go to prison after all?"
Tong Le clarified, "It’s not that she won’t go to prison; it’s just that we can’t let her go there for now. The situation is quite complex. The police need to solve the case and apprehend the drug trafficking group. Since Lan Qingqing drugged you and caused harm, she will definitely face consequences. However, because she provided information about many traffickers, her punishment will be mitigated. In fact, this negotiation with Lan Qingqing was something Zeyu and I discussed with the police beforehand; they agreed because it aids in capturing the trafficking group. Otherwise, if Lan Qingqing kept denying everything, the police wouldn’t be able to solve the case or catch the criminals. I also made a special request: if the lawyer can legally secure Lan Qingqing’s release, then they should refrain from arresting her for now. This is important because Mo Kai Liang promised me that if Lan Qingqing could be safely released, he would share what he knows about Ke Wenjie."
Wu Youyou felt reluctant but understood the need for broader considerations; thus, Lan Qingqing had to be released for now since she would still be useful later.
Tong Le reassured her: "The police will grant Lan Qingqing temporary freedom because currently they are investigating three cases connected to her. There are issues with Ke Wenjie’s Logistics Department; there were problems at the Cosmetic Surgery Institution Lan Qingqing visited; and regarding Ge Miao's death—Lan Qingqing informed us about Ge Miao's affair with Ke Wenjie; she provided video evidence of that as well."
Tong Le continued soothingly: "I know you despise Lan Qingqing, but right now she holds significant value for us. Once these matters are thoroughly investigated and resolved, the police will provide you with a satisfactory explanation."
