Wu Youyou forced herself to accept the reality of the situation. She let out a sigh, acknowledging, "Alright, I accept this status quo; after all, I can't change anything." She knew that the police would eventually provide her with an explanation, but she couldn't come to terms with this conclusion. She would still seek closure with Lan Qingqing in her own way. The law could only offer her a basic judgment, but there was a hurdle in her heart that she couldn't overcome.
Tong Le refrained from offering advice; there was no point in trying to persuade her. Unless the knife was plunged into her own body, she had no right to intervene. She respected Wu Youyou's choice, as long as it didn't harm herself. "You can handle your grievances with her however you see fit."
Wu Youyou exhaled heavily, feeling some of her inner turmoil dissipate. She regained her composure and reassured Tong Le, "Don't worry, I won't cause you any trouble. If you need me, I'll be there to help."
At that moment, Tong Le's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was Hou Yi. She gestured to Wu Youyou, indicating she would take the call.
Hearing Hou Yi's name made Wu Youyou's eyes light up unexpectedly, catching her off guard. Sitting in her chair, she listened to Tong Le's conversation while secretly feeling sorrowful. It would be a lie to say she wasn't upset; just thinking about Lan Qingqing strolling around freely made her want to stab Lan Qingqing! Although Lan Qingqing was currently in a dire situation, Wu Youyou hadn't personally vented her frustrations, which left her feeling restless.
It felt like throwing a powerful punch into a pile of cotton—utterly ineffective yet still exhausting.
After hanging up the phone, Tong Le turned to Wu Youyou and asked, "Hou Yi said we’re having lunch at noon. Do you want to join us?"
Without hesitation, Wu Youyou replied, "Sure! I'll go with you. Just the three of us?"
Tong Le nodded. "Yes, just the three of us. I’m quite surprised by how fast the police are acting. Hou Yi just called me and mentioned he heard news from the police that they’ve already captured a key suspect. It seems that as soon as Lan Qingqing provided information, the police sprang into action—or perhaps they had already targeted someone and were just waiting for evidence before moving in."
Wu Youyou responded, "The second possibility is more likely; otherwise, the police wouldn't have agreed to let Lan Qingqing make amends for her crimes. They must have been waiting for crucial evidence."
Meanwhile, at Hua Rongxiao's home, Ke Jie was giving Hua Rongxiao a shoulder massage. Both wore expressions of confidence and certainty, believing that Lan Qingqing was doomed this time.
Curiously, Ke Jie asked, "Honey, how did you manage to set up Lan Qingqing? I still can't figure it out; this move is simply brilliant and seamless!"
Hua Rongxiao caressed her abdomen. Although she couldn't yet feel the life growing inside her and her belly remained flat, she couldn't suppress the overwhelming surge of maternal affection and excitement within her. "I told you that once I became pregnant with your child, I would make sure Wan Zhang disappears from our world immediately."
