Zong Zeyu knew that he would follow Tong Le's instructions without question. He quietly praised her, mentioning that he had just received a call from the police, who informed him that they would be awarding her a badge for her contributions. The recent operation had resulted in the capture of all suspects with zero casualties.
Tong Le smiled, acknowledging that the police had already planned everything; they had only provided a small clue. Zong Zeyu then recalled that there was a business dinner later that evening where he would meet several important clients, one of whom was a government leader who had helped set up the meeting. If the conversation went well, they could secure a significant civil project by the end of the year, and he was eager to take on this opportunity.
"Do you need me to accompany you? How can I help?" Tong Le asked supportively.
With affectionate eyes, Zong Zeyu replied, "Just being by my side brings me good luck."
Tong Le laughed, "Then I'll go home and pick out a beautiful outfit to wear with you tonight."
Suddenly, Tong Le fell silent and gestured to Zong Zeyu to do the same. They both quieted as Lan Qingqing approached them.
Lan Qingqing stood by the table, looking intently at Tong Le. "Can I talk to you privately?"
Zong Zeyu stood up and stepped aside to give them space.
Lan Qingqing sat directly across from Tong Le. She had eaten well and felt energized, having also formulated her plans moving forward. "I will share everything I know with you. I can fully cooperate, including information about Ge Miao and Ke Wenjie, as well as Hua Rongxiao and Du Guangwei's Cosmetic Surgery Institution. I will do whatever you ask of me from now on, as long as you help me get revenge on Ke Wenjie and Hua Rongxiao."
Tong Le was taken aback by her sudden change of heart. "Your shift in attitude is quite unexpected."
"What do you need me to do?" Lan Qingqing asked earnestly. "From this moment on, we are in the same boat. You must ensure my safety because I know that once I step out of Zong Shi Yan Tuan, Hua Rongxiao's people will be watching me closely. She will have her subordinates wait for the right moment to eliminate me, and I don’t want to die."
"You need to inform your lawyer about everything you know," Tong Le advised. "Authorize your lawyer to handle your case completely. As for what comes next, I haven't figured it out yet. But you can rest assured about your personal safety; you've seen the bodyguards at the cafeteria entrance—they will watch over you, and the police will also ensure your safety."
Lan Qingqing relaxed slightly; having eaten her fill, she was not as tense as before. She glanced at Mo Kai Liang filling his cup with hot water and sighed in resignation. "Who would have thought that the person guarding me would be someone like Mo Kai Liang? And yet you are different; beside you is Zong Zeyu."
"Mo Kai Liang is certainly better than Ke Wenjie," Tong Le pointed out. "If Ke Wenjie were guarding you, you probably wouldn't survive."
Tong Le stood up and warned her not to go out in the next few days; Hua Rongxiao would not let her off easily—she wanted Lan Qingqing gone more than anyone else.
"I understand," Lan Qingqing replied.
As Tong Le turned to leave, Lan Qingqing called after her. "Mo Kai Liang wanted me to thank you. Although I don't think there's much to thank for since you're only doing this for yourself."
Tong Le smiled in relief, accepting it as gratitude and responding politely before leaving.
Lan Qingqing suddenly turned back with reluctance, muttering softly to herself, "I didn't even thank you; how self-important."
The evening business cocktail party was a small gathering, attended by elite leaders from various industries. The head of the chamber of commerce took the lead, bringing together these influential individuals who held the keys to resources and wealth, allowing them to meet and connect in this exclusive setting.
