I recalled the scene.
The corpse had begun to decay, yet it appeared relatively peaceful, as if it had not suffered much pain.
"No," I shook my head. "It looks quite calm, not like it endured any suffering."
"Are there any scars or residual substances?"
I thought for a moment. "Since the body has already started to rot, I didn't pay much attention."
He Li nodded. "Alright, I understand."
At that moment, Chen Zhiyuan pushed the door open.
He seemed to be on a call with someone, his expression serious.
After a while, he hung up and smiled at me. "Miss Wang Chen, nice to see you again."
"Yes," I nodded.
"Sorry, I was tied up with something earlier," he said. "Now that I'm free, let's talk about Miss Zhou Peiyao."
"Sure."
"Did you know that Miss Zhou Peiyao used to work at a bar?"
"Yes," I nodded.
In fact, that bar was owned by Zheng Xin, and I occasionally helped him by serving drinks and clearing tables.
"What was the name of that bar?"
"Encounter," I replied.
Chen Zhiyuan nodded. "Miss Zhou Peiyao frequently visited this bar. Do you know what she went there for?"
I shook my head. "I'm not sure."
In fact, I could probably guess a little, but I couldn't say anything.
Because Zheng Xin had mentioned that no one should know about their matters.
"Alright," Chen Zhiyuan said. "Additionally, we found multiple prescription drugs in Miss Zhou Peiyao's system, including stimulants. What are your thoughts on this?"
I shook my head. "I'm not sure."
In reality, I was quite aware, as I had witnessed Zheng Xin giving Zhou Peiyao some medication before.
But I didn't know what those drugs were.
"Okay," Chen Zhiyuan continued. "However, we hope you can assist us in investigating this bar. After all, you are Miss Zhou Peiyao's friend and a regular at this establishment."
I nodded. "Sure."
Chen Zhiyuan showed me a document. "These are the questions we would like to understand; we hope you can help us with the investigation."
I took the document and glanced through it. It contained questions about the 'Encounter' bar, including who the owner was, what the operating hours were, and whether any homicides had occurred there.
"Alright," I nodded and tucked the document into my bag.
Chen Zhiyuan escorted me out. "Thank you for your cooperation. By the way, Miss Zhou Peiyao's family is already at the police station. Would you like to meet them?"
I thought for a moment and nodded. "Yes."
After all, my current role was as Zhou Peiyao's makeup artist, and I was her last makeup artist.
I had a few words I wanted to say to her.
Under the guidance of Chen Zhiyuan, I met Zhou Peiyao's family—her parents.
They were dressed in expensive clothes and adorned with jewelry, exuding an air of arrogance.
However, Chen Zhiyuan clearly showed his impatience with them. "I've already said it; we haven't found the murderer yet. Pressing us further won't help!"
One of the men in the couple glared at him. "What kind of attitude is that? Let me tell you, our daughter is a well-known beauty! What if something happens to her?"
Chen Zhiyuan scoffed. "A beauty? Your daughter has been dead for a year! You haven't cared about her well-being during this time! And now you suddenly show concern for her safety?!"
The man was momentarily speechless, his face turning red. "I... I..."
Ignoring him, Chen Zhiyuan turned to me. "Miss Wang Chen, do you have something to discuss with them?"
I glanced at the couple and smiled. "It's nothing; I won't disturb you any longer."
With that, I turned and walked out.
