I packed all of Zhou Peiyao's documents into my bag when a sudden thought struck me.
"Zheng Xin! Where's my admission letter?!"
"What admission letter?" Zheng Xin looked confused.
"The one from when I got accepted to Kyoto University!" I exclaimed. "Without it, how am I supposed to go back to school?!"
Zheng Xin paused for a moment. "Don't panic. Have you checked to see if you left it somewhere?"
"I've looked everywhere! I just can't find it!" I replied. "It was definitely here before! How could it just disappear?!"
Zheng Xin pondered for a moment. "Could it have gotten lost during the last move?"
I considered that possibility. "Maybe, but it's really important! How can I prove I'm Zhou Peiyao without it?!"
Zheng Xin frowned. "Let's not rush. We can keep looking."
However, we searched the entire place and still couldn't find that admission letter.
Then Zheng Xin glanced at the clock. "Alright, stop searching. The flight is about to take off; we need to leave."
"But..." I hesitated.
That admission letter was truly important to me.
Zheng Xin said impatiently, "Enough with the 'buts'! It's just a piece of paper! It won't stop you from going to school!"
"You don't understand!" I snapped, feeling anxious. "It's crucial evidence proving I'm Zhou Peiyao!
What if someone questions my identity later?!"
"It won't happen," Zheng Xin reassured me. "Don't forget, you're Wang Chen now, not Zhou Peiyao."
"That doesn't matter!" I insisted. "I have to find that admission letter! If not, I'm not leaving!"
Zheng Xin was angry. "Are you going or not?! If you're not, then just stay here by yourself!"
With that, he turned to leave.
I quickly grabbed his arm. "Wait! Can't I just go with you?!"
In truth, I was terrified of being left alone in this city.
I knew that as soon as I slipped up, someone would realize I wasn't Zhou Peiyao.
At that point, I wouldn't just lose the chance to continue my studies; I might even lose my life!
Thinking of this, I hurriedly picked up my bag and followed Zheng Xin out the door.
In the taxi, I asked Zheng Xin, "Should we at least let Zhou Peiyao's parents know we're leaving?"
Zheng Xin scoffed. "Why bother? They don't care about your well-being."
I thought for a moment. "You're right."
Ever since I heard their attitude towards me last time, I had completely lost hope in them.
I even started to regret why I had given them so much money in the first place.
Had I known they were so heartless, I should have let them fend for themselves!
With that thought, I sighed and looked out the window.
Suddenly, I noticed a police car by the roadside that looked familiar.
Wasn't that Chen Zhiyuan's car?
What was he doing here?
Was he following me?
Feeling a wave of anxiety wash over me, I quickly pulled my head back.
At that moment, Zheng Xin asked, "What's wrong with you?"
I replied, "I think I saw Chen Zhiyuan's car. Is he following me?!"
Zheng Xin glanced out the window and said, "Don't scare yourself. How could a police officer possibly be following you?!"
I thought for a moment and conceded, "You're right."
Perhaps I was just overthinking it.
After all, how could Chen Zhiyuan suspect me?
With that thought, I let out a sigh of relief, leaning back in my seat to rest my eyes.
Upon arriving at the airport, Zheng Xin handed me my ID and ticket, saying, "Go through security. I'll wait for you inside."
"Okay," I nodded, taking the ID and ticket. I put on my mask and hat and headed toward the security checkpoint.
In fact, I still had a scar on my face that hadn't healed, so I had to wear a mask and hat whenever I went out.
