Why did this legendary deity take notice of someone as obscure as me from the Mo Family? Was it merely because my Mechanics were somewhat rare?
This little incident made me form a more concrete impression of the name "Yi Jian Han," beyond just the notion of "legend."
The exploration continued, and with our previous successes, everyone was in high spirits. Although the final boss, Shen Demon, was incredibly powerful, we attempted several times and were wiped out due to coordination errors. Still, everyone felt that we had gained a lot. At least we managed to break through the earlier challenges and catch a glimpse of the final boss, not to mention our unexpected "encounter" with the deity.
When I exited the Dungeon, it was already late at night. I rubbed my slightly sore eyes and prepared to log off and sleep. Just then, my Private Chat channel suddenly flickered.
I opened it to find a message from Yi Jian Han. The content was just a brief sentence: "Your Misty Butterfly Formation is quite interesting; there’s room for improvement."
My heart inexplicably skipped a beat.
Staring at that message from Yi Jian Han in the Private Chat window, I was stunned for several seconds. He… was discussing Mechanics with me? The number one swordsman in the entire server was interested in a homemade trap from a Mo Family nobody? This felt so off.
"Wanxing? What are you daydreaming about?" Su Qi had already logged off but peeked over to look at my screen. "Oh? Yi Jian Han sent you a Private Chat?!" Her voice instantly shot up an octave.
I quickly minimized the Private Chat window, feeling a bit guilty. "It’s nothing; he just asked something casually."
"Casually asked?" Su Qi clearly didn’t believe me. "A deity actively Private Chatting you and just 'casually asking'? Show me!"
"I really don’t think it’s anything…" I stubbornly refused. For some reason, I didn’t want anyone to see that the deity was discussing Mechanics with me; it felt a bit… delicate.
After managing to fend off Su Qi, I reopened the Private Chat window, pondering how to respond. Should I politely say "thank you for your guidance"? Or pretend I didn’t see it? Or… should I seriously discuss improvements for the Misty Butterfly Formation with him?
My fingers hovered over the virtual keyboard for quite some time before I ultimately chose the third option. When it came to areas I loved and excelled in, I couldn’t help but get serious.
I replied: "Thank you. The Misty Butterfly Formation indeed has many imperfections, mainly regarding its triggering mechanism and energy stability issues; it also consumes quite a lot of materials. Do you have any suggestions?"
After sending my reply, there was silence—no response for quite a while.
I chuckled self-deprecatingly; perhaps the deity had only mentioned it on a whim and didn’t expect me to reply, let alone engage in an in-depth discussion. After all, someone like him surely wouldn’t have time to guide an ordinary player like me.
I closed the game, went through my evening routine, and got into bed. Yet as I lay there, my mind kept wandering back to the maze in Mirage City and Yi Jian Han's cool voice along with that last Private Chat message.
The next day was Saturday; there were no classes. I indulged in a rare lie-in and woke up around ten in the morning. Su Qi and her friends had long gone out shopping, leaving me alone in the dormitory.
I opened my computer and habitually logged into Tales of the Spirit Realm. As soon as I was online, the system notification sound rang incessantly. When I clicked to check, I found several unread Private Chats, all from Yi Jian Han.
