The final exam week was approaching quickly. The heavy review tasks left me with little time for anything else; I spent every day in the library and study rooms, barely logging into any games.
After finishing my last professional course exam, I dragged my exhausted body out of the examination hall, feeling as if I had just fought a tough battle.
My phone vibrated with a new message.
Sender: Gu Yu.
The content was simple: "Finished your exam?"
A warm feeling enveloped my heart. He actually remembered that I had my exam today.
"Yeah, just finished. I feel like I'm going to fail T_T," I replied half-jokingly.
He replied almost instantly: "I believe in you."
After a pause, he sent another message: "Are you free tonight? Let's celebrate the end of your exams."
Celebrate... the end of exams?
My heart raced again. Was this... an invitation for a date?
"I'm free!" I almost blurted out without thinking.
"The café across from the east gate of the school, seven o'clock, is that okay?"
"Sure!"
Putting down my phone, I felt like my heart was about to leap out of my chest.
Gu Yu Senior... asked me to the café tonight?
I looked at myself in the mirror, slightly haggard from late-night studying, and suddenly felt an unprecedented urge—I needed to dress up!
I rushed back to my dormitory, rummaging through my clothes, and even went so far as to put on some light makeup for the first time.
"Wow! Is our Wanxing going on a date?" Su Qi and the others couldn't help but tease when they saw me.
"Of course not!" I retorted stubbornly, though my cheeks turned as red as apples.
At seven o'clock in the evening, I arrived punctually at the café across from the east gate of the school.
It was a quaint little shop with an elegant atmosphere—warm yellow lights and soothing music, perfect for chatting.
As I pushed open the door, I immediately spotted Gu Yu Senior sitting by the window.
He wasn't wearing his usual shirt today; instead, he had changed into a light gray thin sweater, which made him appear a bit gentler. He was looking down at his phone, and the outline of his profile looked exceptionally handsome under the soft lighting.
When he saw me come in, he lifted his head and smiled at me. "You're here?"
"Yeah." I sat down across from him, my heart racing like a little rabbit.
The waiter came over to take our order, and Gu Yu directly ordered a cup of Mocha for me, something I usually liked.
"How did you know I like Mocha?" I asked, a bit surprised.
"I saw it on your table last time at the library," he replied casually.
My heart warmed again. So, he had been quietly paying attention to me?
We talked about many things—exams, majors, games, and future plans. Chatting with him was always enjoyable; he was knowledgeable and insightful but also knew how to listen.
Before I knew it, over an hour had passed.
A soothing English song was playing in the café, creating just the right atmosphere.
Gu Yu looked out the window, fell silent for a few seconds, then suddenly turned his head and looked at me seriously. "Lin Wanxing."
"Yeah?" I felt a bit nervous being addressed so solemnly.
"There’s something I want to tell you."
My heart instantly jumped into my throat. What was he going to say?
"I..." He seemed hesitant, which was rare for him. "I might have to leave for a while."
"Leave?" I was taken aback. "Where are you going?"
"The company has taken on a collaborative project in Silicon Valley that will require me to be there for about six months," he said.
Silicon Valley? Six months?
My heart sank suddenly.
