Our Sweet Formula 6: Umbrella on a Rainy Night

After the Basketball Court Incident, my relationship with Jiang Chi entered a more delicate phase. We still had our daily routine of studying in the library, but there seemed to be an air of something faintly blush-inducing and heart-racing lingering between us. 0

He remained stingy with words, yet his actions became increasingly "out of line." For instance, he would reserve a window seat for me using his books; when I was pulling my hair out over a difficult problem, he would lightly tap my forehead with the pen (of course, on the uninjured side); and when I casually complained about how one of the cafeteria's dishes tasted like pig slop, the next day at lunch, he handed me a beautifully packaged takeout meal from an off-campus restaurant with a straight face, claiming it was "on the way, so I bought an extra." 0

Who would believe that it was just on the way? 0

These subtle yet precise gestures of care were like pebbles thrown into my heart's lake, creating ripples that lingered long after. I found myself increasingly addicted to the feeling of being with him. My eyes would unconsciously search for his figure; my heart would skip a beat at the rare glances he threw my way; I would replay his sparse words in my mind, searching for hidden meanings. I had to painfully yet sweetly admit a fact: I, Lin Xi, seemed to have truly fallen for this iceberg named Jiang Chi. 0

But this damned affection was something I couldn't voice. He was the moon in the sky, adored by countless stars, while I was merely an inconspicuous speck of dust on the ground. Not to mention Meng Yao, who was always by his side and had an impressive fighting spirit. 0

Meng Yao seemed to have caught wind of the unusual atmosphere between Jiang Chi and me and began to give me her full attention in a rather aggressive manner. She would "accidentally" bump into me while walking, spread rumors behind my back that "Lin Xi only got Jiang Chi to take her to competitions through improper means," and team up with her friends to isolate me at various occasions, setting traps for me. 0

Though I tried hard to act indifferent, how could my heart remain unperturbed? The feelings of grievance and frustration wrapped around me like vines. 0

One day, the Publicity Department needed to rush out a batch of event posters. I was alone in the activity room working hard until late at night. Outside, it had started pouring rain without me noticing, accompanied by thunder and lightning. When I finally finished all my work and stretched lazily, ready to leave, I despaired at the realization—I hadn’t brought an umbrella! 0

Looking at the torrential rain outside, I felt like crying but had no tears. The activity room was nearly ten minutes away from the dormitory; in this downpour, running back would definitely turn me into a drenched chicken. 0

As I stood at the door hesitating between dashing through the rain or waiting until dawn, the slightly ajar door creaked open. 0

Jiang Chi stood at the entrance, holding a pure black umbrella in one hand and… a cup of hot milk tea in the other? His hair tips and shoulders were noticeably damp; he had clearly come through the rain. 0

"You… what are you doing here?" My jaw nearly dropped in shock. At this hour, wasn’t he supposed to be playing games or studying in his dorm? 0

"Just passing by," he replied succinctly, quickly scanning over my scattered art supplies and completed poster on the table. "Not done yet?" 0

"I just… finished," I stammered as I hurriedly began packing up my things, my heart racing. Passing by? Who would believe that? The activity room was tucked away in the most remote corner of the teaching building; who would come here in such heavy rain at this hour? 0

"Let’s go." He didn’t call out my fluster but opened the umbrella and tilted his head toward me. 0
