I deliberately glanced at Aunt Liu's trusted subordinates, my gaze laden with meaning. They felt uneasy under my scrutiny, stammering and hesitant to speak.
Aunt Liu tried to resist, "Jiang Yao, running a company is no child's play. You lack experience..."
"Who is born with experience?" I retorted. "Wasn't it after marrying my father that you began to 'learn' how to manage the company? I believe I won't learn any slower than you did."
I directly pointed out that Aunt Liu was once a novice herself, leaving her speechless. Jiang Hong sighed and eventually nodded, "Alright, since you have this determination... let's give it a try."
Aunt Liu was so furious she nearly crushed the cup in her hand. I knew this was just the first step. Taking back the the Jiang wouldn't be easy.
After the meeting, I deliberately slowed my pace to follow President Wang.
"President Wang," I called out to him.
He stopped, a smile plastered on his face. "Miss, how can I assist you?"
I walked up beside him and lowered my voice, "President Wang, I've heard your son has gotten into some trouble abroad recently?"
President Wang's expression changed instantly. "Miss, you..."
"Don't be nervous," I patted his arm with a knowing smile. "I’m just asking casually. After all, we are all 'Insiders.' If there's any way I can help, I certainly will."
President Wang looked at me with a complicated expression. I said no more and turned to leave. It was a warning; those who understood would know.
I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.
On the top floor, in the President's Office. My father wasn't there; Aunt Liu was sitting in his chair making phone calls, acting imperiously.
Upon seeing me enter, she impatiently hung up the phone. "What do you want?"
"I came to see my office," I said as I looked around. "Aunt Liu, this office used to belong to my mom, right? Don’t you find it awkward sitting here?"
Aunt Liu's face turned pale. "Jiang Yao, don't go too far!"
"Too far?" I walked to the desk and picked up a picture frame containing a photo of my mother. "What right does someone who occupies another's nest have to say that others are going too far?"
I placed the frame back in its original position and looked her straight in the eye. "Aunt Liu, I advise you to return what doesn't belong to you sooner rather than later, or else it won't be pleasant for anyone."
"You wish!" Aunt Liu suddenly stood up. "The Jiang family has my hard work invested in it. It won't be so easy for you to kick me out!"
"Oh really?" I smiled. "Then let's wait and see."
Just then, there was a knock on the office door.
"Come in," I said.
The door opened, and a man walked in.
Tall and long-legged, he exuded a powerful aura. Dressed in a well-tailored black suit, he appeared even more imposing. His features were deep-set, his gaze sharp, radiating a cold vibe that kept strangers at bay.
Is it him? Shen Shiyan?!
I was taken aback.
Shen Shiyan, the heir of the top-tier Shen family in the capital, was known for his mysterious demeanor and ruthless methods—someone no one in the business world dared to provoke.
In my past life, I had almost no interactions with him. How could he possibly be here?
Aunt Liu clearly recognized him as well and stood up in surprise. "President Shen? What brings you here?"
Shen Shiyan didn't even glance at her, walking straight up to me and giving a slight nod. "Miss Jiang."
His voice was deep, carrying an unusual magnetism.
I snapped back to reality and asked uncertainly, "President Shen, are you looking for me?"
"Yes." He was succinct with his words. "I heard that Miss Jiang officially joined the Jiang board today, so I came to congratulate you."
Congratulate?
I looked at him, trying to read something from his expressionless face.
Aunt Liu was also stunned and stammered, "President Shen... do you know Jiang Yao?"
Only then did Shen Shiyan shift his gaze toward Aunt Liu, his eyes as cold as ice. "Miss Jiang and I are friends."
Friends?!
