The melodious strains of the Wedding March filled the air, mingling with the fragrance of lilies.
I looked around in confusion, realizing I was standing at the entrance of the church.
Today was my wedding with Gu Jing Shen.
Dressed in a pure white wedding gown and adorned with a dazzling crown, I felt like a princess from a fairy tale.
Yet, my heart was heavy with unease and fear.
I knew that today would bring a disaster—a calamity capable of destroying both me and Gu Jing Shen: The Great Fire.
"Wan Tang, what's wrong?" Gu Jing Shen's voice reached my ears.
I turned to see him standing beside me, clad in a sharp suit, his face illuminated by a gentle smile.
"I'm fine," I forced a smile, "just a little nervous."
Gu Jing Shen took my hand, his grip warm and reassuring. "Don't be afraid; I'm here with you."
His hand provided a sense of comfort as we walked side by side into the church. Under the witness of the pastor, we exchanged rings and made our vows.
"Now, the groom may kiss the bride," the pastor announced.
Gu Jing Shen slowly lowered his head, leaning closer to me.
I closed my eyes, waiting for his kiss.
At that moment, I suddenly felt a wave of heat behind me.
I opened my eyes wide and turned to look, only to see a fierce blaze erupting in the corner of the church—the Great Fire.
"Jing Shen, be careful!" I exclaimed, pushing Gu Jing Shen away.
The flames instantly engulfed me, and I felt a searing pain all over my body.
I heard Gu Jing Shen's heart-wrenching cries, but I couldn't do anything.
My consciousness gradually faded, and everything before me turned dark.
When I awoke again, I found myself lying on a soft bed.
I opened my eyes and saw Gu Jing Shen sitting by my bedside, looking at me with a worried expression.
"Wan Tang, you're finally awake!" he said excitedly.
I looked at him, filled with confusion.
"I... wasn't I burned by the fire?" I asked.
Gu Jing Shen paused for a moment before saying, "You're fine; you just fainted for a few days."
"The fire... was set by Su Nian. She has already been arrested by the police."
I looked at him, my heart filled with confusion.
"Su Nian?" I asked, "Why would she set the fire?"
Gu Jing Shen sighed and replied, "She said she was jealous of you and didn't want me to be with you."
I stared at him, unsure of what to say.
Su Nian had truly burned me.
My heart was filled with anger and sorrow.
"Wan Tang, don't think about it; just rest well," Gu Jing Shen said. "Everything is in the past now."
I nodded and closed my eyes.
But in my mind, the image of the Great Fire kept resurfacing, along with Su Nian's twisted face.
I couldn't forget, nor could I forgive.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain coursing through my body.
I suddenly opened my eyes to see Gu Jing Shen holding me, his face filled with worry.
"Wan Tang, what’s wrong?" he asked.
"I... my stomach hurts so much..." I managed to say.
Gu Jing Shen quickly called for a doctor.
After the examination, the doctor's expression turned grave.
"Mr. Gu, Mrs. Gu's cancer cells have already spread..."
"What?" Gu Jing Shen looked at the doctor in shock. "How... how is this possible?"
The doctor sighed and said, "Mrs. Gu's condition was already serious, and this recent fire has worsened her illness..."
I looked at Gu Jing Shen, tears silently streaming down my face. I knew my time was running out.
There were so many things I wanted to say to him, but the words just wouldn't come out.
