I sat on the bench by the playground, the autumn breeze gently brushing against me, bringing a hint of chill. Qin Feng sat beside me, his expression complex. I could sense he had something to say but was hesitant.
"Zhao Yue, I want to tell you something," Qin Feng finally spoke, his voice trembling slightly.
I gently took his hand, offering encouragement. "It's okay, go ahead."
Taking a deep breath, Qin Feng slowly began, "Actually, I have suffered from cyberbullying."
His sudden confession left me stunned. I had always thought of Qin Feng as merely introverted, never realizing there was such a story hidden behind him.
"It happened during middle school," he continued, pain evident in his eyes. "Someone spread rumors about me online, claiming I stole things and bullied classmates. Those accusations were completely unfounded, yet everyone believed them."
I listened quietly, unable to interrupt him. Qin Feng's voice grew increasingly somber. "Every day when I opened my phone, all I saw were insults and curses directed at me. I was afraid to go to school because everyone looked at me differently. During that time, I truly felt that living was a torment."
Hearing this, my heart twisted in anguish. I couldn't imagine the pain Qin Feng had endured.
"That experience caused me a lot of harm," he said with a bitter smile. "It made me unable to trust anyone. I always felt that the people around me could betray or hurt me at any moment. So I chose to shut myself off and avoid socializing."
I tightened my grip on Qin Feng's hand, feeling his tremors. I spoke softly, "Qin Feng, thank you for sharing this with me. You're very brave, truly."
He looked up at me, tears glistening in his eyes. "You don't think I'm weak?"
I shook my head and said earnestly, "How could I? You've managed to come out of such an experience; that's already remarkable. And now you're willing to open your heart to me—what tremendous courage that takes."
Qin Feng's tears finally fell. I gently embraced him, letting him lean on my shoulder. I softly comforted him, "Qin Feng, you are no longer alone. I will always be by your side, no matter what happens."
Qin Feng sobbed in my arms, as if he needed to release years of grievances. I gently patted his back, silently vowing to protect this fragile yet strong boy.
Gradually, Qin Feng calmed down. He wiped his tears and looked at me with a hint of embarrassment, saying, "I'm sorry for letting you see me like this."
I smiled and shook my head. "Don't say that. Being able to cry is actually a form of release. If anything happens in the future, you can always talk to me. We’ll face it together, okay?"
Qin Feng nodded, a glimmer of light flashing in his eyes. "Thank you, Zhao Yue. With you by my side, I feel braver."
From that day on, I could clearly sense the changes in Qin Feng. He began to try communicating with other classmates; although he was still a bit awkward, he had taken an important step.
One time, our class organized an outing, and Qin Feng took the initiative to volunteer for preparing the food. Watching him seriously discuss the menu with his classmates warmed my heart.
Slowly, Qin Feng started actively participating in class activities. During a class debate competition, he even volunteered to be a debater. Although we didn’t win in the end, his performance impressed everyone.
Seeing Qin Feng's transformation filled me with genuine joy. One day after school, I couldn’t help but tell him, "Qin Feng, do you know? You've really changed a lot."
Qin Feng smiled and said, "Really? I didn’t even notice it myself."
I replied earnestly, "You’ve become more cheerful and more willing to communicate with others. I feel like you’ve completely stepped out of the shadows."
Qin Feng was silent for a moment before saying, "Zhao Yue, it’s all because of you being by my side. You’ve given me courage and strength."
Hearing those words, a wave of sweetness washed over me. I knew that our relationship was becoming more stable; we trusted and supported each other.
We studied together, motivating one another, and our grades showed significant improvement. We played together, sometimes taking simple walks and other times engaging in wild games. We shared each other's joys and sorrows, leaving no topic untouched.
Once, when I was upset about not doing well on a test, Qin Feng immediately took me out for my favorite ice cream. Watching him awkwardly try to comfort me made me laugh despite my sadness.
Another time, when Qin Feng excelled in a math competition, I felt even more excited than he did. We celebrated together, and that genuine joy filled me with happiness.
Before I knew it, we had become the most important people in each other's lives. We supported one another, grew together, and faced every challenge life threw our way hand in hand.
Looking at Qin Feng now, with his confident and sunny demeanor, I often think back to the boy who sat on the playground bench sharing his past with me. The boy who had once been hurt had grown so strong.
I know our story is still unfolding. No matter what the future holds, I will always stand by Qin Feng's side, just as he has supported me. Because we have become each other's most important person, this bond will accompany us for a lifetime.
