On a gloomy afternoon, Chen Guiyuan went out once again to meet Juliy. To prevent me from sneaking out, he had already changed the locks on the villa, leaving me with no choice but to find another way. Fortunately, I was slim enough; after some effort, I successfully squeezed through a small window in the basement.
Before this, I had already contacted a reliable accomplice. Following my instructions, he had prepared various items I needed:
A spare phone, as my original one had been taken by Chen Guiyuan;
Several bottles of assorted vitamin pills, custom-made to resemble the medication Chen Guiyuan had given me, enough to pass for the real thing. I planned to quietly replace the pills he provided since there was always a risk of being discovered when I vomited them out;

Since Chen Guiyuan liked to carry my phone with him, I decided to play along and installed tracking software on my own device. When I logged into the tracking app on the new spare phone, it immediately set off an alarm. My heart sank—Chen Guiyuan was already on his way back to the villa!
A chill slithered up my spine; I had to return before he got back and must not be caught sneaking out. However, just as I slipped into the yard through the back door, I saw Chen Guiyuan's car parked there—he had already entered the house!
My heart raced as I forced myself to calm down, holding my breath and quickening my pace while being careful not to make any noise. Just as I squeezed through the small window in the basement and hung there momentarily, I suddenly heard Chen Guiyuan calling my name from outside the basement door. The familiar sound of his footsteps drew closer, each step tightening my nerves.
At the moment Chen Guiyuan pushed open the basement door, I dropped down and sat on the floor, immediately putting on a neurotic act and feigning confusion as I looked back at him. "Honey, you're back! I... I was looking for my old photo album to show you, but... I've been searching for so long and can't find it..."
Seeing me, Chen Guiyuan visibly relaxed. He struggled to steady his rapid breathing while sizing me up. Then he forced a smile that appeared particularly eerie in the dim basement light.
"Ming Ke, it's dark down here and cluttered with stuff; be careful not to trip. From now on, don’t come here alone. If you need something, I'll help you look for it."
With that, he reached out his hand and gestured for me to come over quickly. I played the part of a mentally disturbed schizophrenia patient, grabbing his hand while stammering, "I... I don't know; I think I saw something just now that scared me..."
Chen Guiyuan remained silent but kept smiling at me, his gaze seemingly hiding something indescribable that sent chills down my spine. Time was of the essence; it was best not to linger too long. It seemed I needed to accelerate my plans.
After that harrowing encounter in the basement, Chen Guiyuan's control over me became increasingly strict. He not only severed all my connections with the outside world but even discouraged my parents from visiting under various pretexts. Although my parents were reluctant, they ultimately left after being swayed by his sweet words.
At the same time, Chen Guiyuan increased the dosage of the medication I was taking daily. Fortunately, I had prepared enough vitamins, and taking them on schedule made my skin feel better lately.
Since moving to the villa, I adjusted my sleep schedule. Every night, after he fell asleep, I would quietly get up to check his phone and computer, adjusting the angles and positions of the cameras. Then I would catch up on sleep during the day. He saw me drowsy all day long and assumed it was due to the medication, never suspecting a thing.
Recently, his conversations with Juliy had become more frequent. Juliy kept urging him to take action against me as soon as possible. Once I was dead, she promised to fulfill all of Chen Guiyuan's requests.
Wait a minute, are you two really using my life as a bargaining chip for your love? Is that appropriate?
She even provided various terrifying methods for Chen Guiyuan's plan to kill his wife, and in the end, they decided that I would "accidentally" drown in the lake.
"Juliy: Hurry up and take action; the longer you wait, the worse it will be. If she discovers anything, we're finished.
Chen Guiyuan: Don't worry, my dear Juliy! I won't let you down! Once Su Mingke is dead, I'll get the insurance money and make sure you live comfortably! I'll bring you home in style!

I gently placed my phone back in its original spot and silently lay back down beside Chen Guiyuan, listening to his even breathing and feeling an unprecedented calm wash over me.
The day had finally arrived.
In the morning, Chen Guiyuan and I enjoyed a lavish breakfast together as usual. He seemed to have a good appetite but appeared busy, constantly replying to messages on his phone. I smiled and said that if he had work today, I could go for a walk by myself. Chen Guiyuan immediately took my hand, insisting that nothing was more important than accompanying me on a walk.
After breakfast, he eagerly took me outside, and we walked along the familiar path to the lake.

Suddenly, Chen Guiyuan stopped in his tracks, staring intently at me. "Ming Ke," he said, "look at how beautiful the lake is today; let's sit here for a while."
My heart raced wildly, but I forced myself to remain calm and obediently nestled beside him.
At that moment, Chen Guiyuan suddenly reached out with both arms, gripping my shoulders and pushing me forcefully!
I widened my eyes, and in that instant, I lost my balance, my body beginning to tilt backward. During that brief moment of weightlessness, I looked up at Chen Guiyuan. His face bore an unprecedented ferocity, his eyes filled with excitement and cruelty, devoid of even the slightest hint of regret or reluctance.
The next moment, I plunged into the icy lake water.
"Help!" I tried to call out, but my voice was quickly swallowed by the water.
In the end, I never learned how to swim and could only allow myself to sink gradually to the bottom of the lake. The surface of the water slowly returned to calm, as if nothing had ever happened.
