I have been married to Huo Ting for a year now. Over this year, our relationship has deepened, and life has gradually improved. One morning, I woke up as usual but suddenly felt something was different. My sixth sense told me that something had changed.
I quietly took a test, and the result confirmed my suspicion—I was pregnant. The news made me both nervous and excited, filling my heart with a sweetness like honey. I couldn't wait to share this good news with Huo Ting, but I wanted to surprise him.
That evening, when Huo Ting came home, I chatted with him casually. After he finished his shower, I handed him a warm glass of milk and smiled, "Darling, I have a gift for you."
Huo Ting looked at me in confusion as he took the small box I offered him. He opened it to find a photo of a pregnancy test. He paused for a moment, then his eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at me, "Wen Wan, this is..."
I nodded, tears of happiness welling in my eyes, "Yes, we’re going to be parents."
Huo Ting jumped up, overwhelmed with excitement and at a loss for words. He hugged me tightly, his voice trembling, "Oh my God, Wen Wan, I'm so happy!" His embrace was warm and strong, and I could feel his heart racing.
From that day on, Huo Ting's care for me became even more attentive. He started paying close attention to my diet during pregnancy, preparing nutritious meals for me every day with great creativity. I often laughed at his "dark culinary creations," but seeing his serious demeanor filled me with warmth.
Morning sickness hit me hard; sometimes I couldn't eat anything all day. Huo Ting was incredibly concerned and always tried various methods to ease my discomfort. He would massage me, brew ginger tea, and even learned acupuncture. Although the effects weren't always noticeable, his thoughtfulness moved me deeply.
One night, I suddenly craved sour plums. Without hesitation, Huo Ting went out to find some. It was pouring rain that day; he came back drenched like a drowned rat but grinning widely with a big bag of sour plums. Seeing him so disheveled yet satisfied made me laugh and cry at the same time.
To spend more time with me, Huo Ting turned down many work opportunities. He accompanied me to prenatal check-ups, and each time he heard the baby's heartbeat, he was as excited as a child. Taking walks became our daily routine; he always carefully supported me, afraid I might fall. At night, he would read stories to me and the baby in my belly; sometimes he would doze off mid-story, looking so adorable that I couldn't help but chuckle.
We decorated the nursery together and picked out baby supplies. Huo Ting surprisingly took great interest in these tasks and often enthusiastically researched the functions of various baby products. One time, he insisted on assembling the crib himself; after struggling all day long to finish it barely right and tearing the instruction manual to shreds in frustration, I couldn't help but laugh at his exasperated expression. He joined in my laughter, and the whole room was filled with an atmosphere of happiness.
As my belly grew day by day, Huo Ting's anticipation for the baby increased even more. He often stroked my belly and talked to the baby. Sometimes he would lean close to my stomach and softly say, "Baby, I'm your dad; I can't wait to meet you." His gentle demeanor made me feel incredibly happy and fulfilled.
I began to learn about parenting in preparation for the new life that was about to arrive. Huo Ting joined me in this journey, sometimes even quizzing me on what I had learned. We often discussed what name to give our baby, dreaming of what they would be like as they grew up.
One night, as we lay in bed, Huo Ting gently stroked my belly and suddenly said, "Wen Wan, thank you."
I was a bit puzzled. "Thank me for what?"
He looked at me with deep affection. "Thank you for giving me a home and now for giving me a child. You make my life complete."
His words moved me to tears, and I nestled closer into his embrace. "Silly, this is our shared happiness."
Watching Huo Ting seriously learn how to care for pregnant women and infants filled me with warmth. I knew that with the arrival of our baby, our family would be even happier. This new little life is the fruit of our love and our shared hope.
I caressed my increasingly rounded belly and softly said, "Baby, both Daddy and I can't wait to meet you. Once you come into this world, we will shower you with love."
Huo Ting tenderly kissed my forehead and said, "Our child will surely be very happy."
I nodded, my heart brimming with anticipation for the future. I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, as long as we were together as a family, we could overcome anything.
This new life that is being nurtured is a testament to our love and a new beginning in our lives. I look forward to their arrival and to the happy future of our little family of three.
