Su Yuemei's face instantly turned pale. "Lily, are you crazy? Did you really make an appointment? This is too dangerous!"
"Moon, you don't have to worry so much~ I'm just going in to take a look... I won't..."
Su Yuemei interrupted my explanation, pacing back and forth in the office. "No, absolutely not! Do you know how much risk you're taking?"
"Moon, you really don't need to be so nervous..."
Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at it and said, "I... I have to take this call. Don't go anywhere, just wait for me here!" With that, she hurried out of the office.
A few minutes later, Su Yuemei returned, looking much calmer. "Lily, I know you won't listen to me. But at least promise me you'll be careful! Okay?"
Finally, the day of the appointment arrived.
I was dressed in a well-tailored designer suit, with exquisite makeup on. I had hidden a voice recorder in a compartment of my bag as I walked into the Mind Reshaping clinic.
The luxurious decor inside the clinic was astonishing, and the security check at the entrance was impressively strict.
My personal belongings, including my phone and the bag containing the recorder, were politely taken away and stored in a unified safe.
The receptionist greeted me with a polite smile. "Hello, may I have your name for the appointment?"
"Zhang Li," I replied with a fake name.
After verifying on her computer, she nodded slightly at me. "Zhang, please follow me."
I followed her through a corridor lined with about five or six rooms, all labeled VIP Consultation Room and looking identical.
"Where is it exactly? Are there people in all these consultation rooms?"
"I'm sorry, Zhang, but those are appointments for other clients. Your reserved room is just ahead."
Finally, we stopped at the door of a room around the corner. "Please wait inside for a moment; the doctor will be here shortly."
I nodded and walked into the room. The VIP Consultation Room was elegantly decorated, with several abstract paintings hanging on the walls. Against one wall was a soft leather sofa, and on the coffee table beside it sat an exquisite green plant.
I pretended to casually explore as I approached the desk. I noticed that the computer screen on the desk was still lit up; clearly, the doctor had just left not long ago.
An excellent opportunity!
I clenched my fist tightly and then opened it, trying to control my trembling hands caused by nerves. I quickly scanned the files on the computer while keeping an ear out for any sounds from outside the door.
After typing “VIP Client” into the search bar, a file named “Special VIP Client” appeared on the screen. I clicked it open, and the contents made me gasp in shock.
It was a list of patients, featuring dozens of names. I recognized several of them as prominent figures from politics, business, and entertainment. Some names were marked with “Consulted,” while others had “Implanted” followed by a date.
I continued to open my Outlook email and found a message titled "Shareholders Meeting Minutes." Just as I glanced at it, I heard voices and footsteps coming from outside the door!
I quickly closed the file and restored the computer to its original state. Then, I pretended to be nonchalant as I sat back in my chair, feigning interest in a brochure.
The door opened, and a middle-aged man with a smile walked in and sat down across from me.
I pressed my hand hard against my thigh under the table, trying to focus. I attempted not to think about the name I had just seen in the "Shareholders Meeting Minutes"—Zhao Mingyuan.
This influential figure straddling both political and business realms was actually a major shareholder of this personality trading clinic!
The Male Doctor across from me clicked a few times on his computer before turning to me with a gentle smile. “Are you Ms. Zhang Li?”
“Yes,” I replied, looking into his eyes. They were strange; although he was smiling while speaking, there was no warmth in his gaze—just an unsettling coldness.
He nodded slightly and smiled faintly before pulling something out of his pocket and suddenly lunging toward my neck!
Everything happened too quickly for me to react.
I felt a sharp pain in my neck and stared in shock at his cold, smiling eyes. What had he done to me?...
All my strength and consciousness rapidly faded away, the world becoming increasingly blurry until I plunged into darkness…
