My heart raced suddenly, and I knew we were definitely heading to a gas station next. I had to find a way...
As expected, not long after, the car indeed arrived at a nearby gas station. The driver didn't pull in directly but stopped by the roadside, turning to glare at me.
"Listen," he said, "I'm going to untie you and open the window, but..." He squinted slightly, pulled out a lighter from his jacket pocket, and lowered his voice. "If you dare to move or say anything out of line, I'll blow up this gas station and take everyone with me! Do you believe me?"
I looked at him in terror, unable to believe my ears. I wanted to take back what I had just said; this man was a lunatic! A complete lunatic!
"I understand," I swallowed hard. "I won't... I won't move."
He grunted in acknowledgment, nodding as he reached over to untie the ropes binding me. I gently rubbed my wrists where the ropes had chafed, not daring to make any unnecessary movements.
The car slowly drove into the gas station, sunlight reflecting off the vehicles coming and going, while several staff members chatted and laughed... For a moment, I felt as if I were sitting in my dad's car, just stopping for a routine fill-up...
"Remember what I just said!" The driver's hoarse voice snapped me back from my daydream, pulling me into the nightmare of reality.
The car door slammed shut with a bang, and I sat frozen inside, my heart pounding like a drum and my palms slick with cold sweat.
"Qiangzi, fill this one up!"
"Sure thing!" A staff member who looked to be in his early twenties approached while humming a tune.
He noticed me sitting in the back seat and raised an eyebrow, leering at me. At that moment, I couldn’t care less; I stared back at him intently. He smirked slightly as he walked over to pump gas while humming some obscure song, his gaze drifting toward me intentionally or not.
I was about to seize the opportunity to do something when the Mad Driver came over. He glanced at the staff member named Qiangzi and then at me before coldly saying, "Just put in 200."
"Got it, bro~" Qiangzi seemed startled by the Mad Driver's icy stare and no longer dared to look around.
What now? This might be my last chance... What should I do...
Just then, I accidentally brushed against a metal object on my wrist—my best friend Lily had given me a bracelet. She bought two identical ones; we each wore one. Suddenly, an idea sparked in my mind! I've got it!
"Bro, 200 is done. You can go pay at the register," Qiangzi said as he hung up the gas nozzle and walked over to the car.
"I'll pay cash; you take it to the register." The Mad Driver said firmly.
Then he reached into his pants pocket and turned around to open the glove compartment of the passenger seat...
My heart raced wildly in my chest—this was it!
As the Mad Driver rummaged through the passenger seat, I seized the moment and threw my bracelet out of the window. It arced brilliantly in the sunlight before landing on Qiangzi's leg!
He looked at me in confusion while I desperately mouthed "Help!" repeatedly with urgency—"Save me!"
A flicker of surprise crossed his face as he quickly glanced at Mad Driver. Before the latter could turn around with the money, he swiftly picked up the bracelet and stuffed it into his pocket.
I quickly averted my gaze, staring down at my trembling fingers.
Mad Driver was completely oblivious to our little exchange; after handing over the cash, he returned straight to the car.
The vehicle started up again and slowly pulled away from the gas station.
I discreetly glanced in the rearview mirror; Qiangzi was still standing there, his expression complicated.
Please, I silently prayed, please help me...
